Nikki's Birth Story - Meet my little Mikaela :)

Congratulations. I think the staying in hospital bit was the worst thing for me too as you just can't relax and sleep with all the interuptions. Glad you're settling at home now.

Thanks ladies!
Its getting easier every day. Last night mikaela let me sleep for about 8 hrs altogether! I feel pretty good today.

Heree a few things i learned the last week or so.
The first week was hardest. Hopefully im past that now! Still hard to concentrate and remember things though haha.
I do agree that how life is for u after baby is born really depends on how ur baby is so try not to plan alot before baby comes. Its just an unecessary headache to stress about planning.

So when ppl tell u to get ur sleep now while ur still pregnant, i disagree with that lol didnt help me a wink! I truly believe its more important to get sleep in whenever u can as soon as baby is born. When she sleeps, u try to sleep. Get someone to watch her to get a nap in, anything!!!
Sleep deprivation totalllly f*cks with ur head. (Sorry for language) i had depressing thoughts, was not happy, was anxious alot, couldnt love her as much as i knew i wanted to, the list goes on.
Its such a difference from what i was last week to today and its all cuz i got some sleep.

Another thing, i was always against co sleeping but for this first week or so, it saved my life lol. I tried to get her to sleep in her moses basket or swing which she did fine but every noise she made, i got upto check on her so i couldnt get my sleep in.

The first night i had her sleep in the bed (i made sure she would not fall off or get covered with blankets or squished or anything), this was the first night i got some sleep.

I had things planned and had judgements but now i take it all back. Be flexible. Do what works for u.

Anywho, thought id share some stuff that really stayed with me.
Also, here is a post partum pic :)
Hope everything is going well with u guys! xx
