I don't usually make a habit of squeezing my boobs so I feel the need to explain: I had my nipple pierced forever ago but haven't worn any jewellery in it for 5-6 years, the hole has never closed over/healed so every once in a while I'll give it a little squeeze to clear it out of any sort of build up (that sounds really gross, sorry!).

When I did it tonight before a shower I noticed that my actual nipple (rather than the piercing hole) leaked a little bit but it was mixed with blood. I thought I'd possibly just irritated my nipple from squeezing the piercing hole but I checked my other nipple and it did the same.

Does anyone know what it is indicative of or if it's just normal?

My nipples bled when I started breastfeeding but it was mostly external from being chapped.

I wouldn't worry unless it keeps doing it. I would also mention it at my next appointment.

Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Hmm I'd get that checked out to be honest. I have no experience but don't think it should be ignored. Can you give your midwife a call or something?

Agree I would speak to MW or GP , bllod should not be coming out of your nipples.

Thanks for the replies girls :D
Who would I need to speak to? Can I just call up my midwife? I don't have an appointment with anyone for 3 weeks, I don't think I see my midwife for another 5 or 6 weeks.

I did some googling and apparently it can happen in pregnancy, is considered normal and will go away after baby is born. I'm not usually one for self diagnosis or Dr Google but in this circumstance it suits me :p :haha:

I've had my nipple ring out for 5 years since my 1st bub and express junk out from time to time but have never had any blood come out, not even when breast feeding so I would definitely bring it up with your care provider.

I would just call up my GP but I think the system is different here. Maybe call your midwife? I'm sure it's nothing, and completely normal (as per Dr Google!) but I'd ask a health professional IRL just in case :)
