Hi

Have been worrying a little, as am 17 weeks today, and still not felt any movements. Thought you were supposed to feel it earlier with second baby, although there will be a 13 year gap!! What are everyone else's experiences?

Many thanks x

I havent felt anything either, but this is my first. I think part of it depends on where the placenta is. :)

It can really vary per woman... this is my first pregnancy, and I didn't feel real movement (what I knew was baby) till I was just about 18wks... some don't feel much till 20wks or more though... some earlier.

My placenta was low though- so it was not blocking me from feeling any movement. You can always ask your doctor at your next appt where the placement is - as that can affect how early you may feel baby.

OR... you could be feeling little one very soon :) Best of luck!

This time around, I have an anterior placenta and I didn't start feeling movement for sure until around 20-22 weeks. Every pregnancy is different and this one is very different from my other two.

Hi

I am now 23 weeks into my 4th pregnancy, my youngest is almost 10 months old.

I was feeling concerned about this one as I didnt feel any movements between 15 & 18 weeks which for me is unusual - I felt my last from 12 weeks onwards (even though I've been told thats not possible).

I went to the hospital (as it was a Sunday) after 3 weeks of feeling nothing to have the babys heart checked and thankfully all was fine.
Its funny because that night I started to feel him moving again!!

So now my baby has quiet days and busy days - on his quiet days I figure he just needs his rest for his next growth spurt :)

I am also a firm believer that each baby gives us indications as to their own unique personalities while they are in the womb - I know that the nature of my pregnancies with my 3 sons all matched the personalities of my boys perfectly.

So according to that theory I think my 4th son will have a fairly easy going personality because this pregnancy has been smooth sailing all the way and he is fairly quiet in there. Well I am hoping so anyway because my 10 month old is soooo very busy (started walking @7 1/2 months) and I will be completely run off my feet if this one is just as busy!!

Although I felt my baby move again the same day that I had his heart checked I am pleased I had it done (was even worth the excruciating 3 1/2 hour wait in the waiting with my 10 month old). Some Drs and midwives may tell you its too early to be worried about it but I believe you should always listen to your mothers instinct - a mothers connection with her children is the strongest force on this planet and there is nothing wrong with wanting to protect your baby and make sure it is ok. Have your doctor check your babys heart if you are concerned & I'm sure you will be relieved to have you mind put at ease.

I wish you all the best for an easy pregnancy and a beautiful healthy happy baby.

Hi Kassandra

Thank you for your lovely and detailed post.

I actually did pop and see the midwife, and heard the baby's heartbeat, so I guess all is ok. Still not felt any definite movements yet. I think I felt movement with my daughter around 18 weeks, but that was nearly 13 years ago, so cannot remember for sure.

As you say, every pregnancy is different. You must have your hands full with 3 boys and another on the way! but what a lovely family you must have. Hope all continues to go well for you and thank you xx

This is my first and I started to sense LO's presence about two weeks ago. I thought it was trapped gas at first. My DH can feel the kicks now and if I lie flat and look at my bump I can see faint movement.

I was drinking my coffee yesterday and rested the cup on my belly button. Immediately afterward, I felt two strong kicks, like the baby was saying get off! But, really, I usually have to stay very still and calm to feel anything. Cold water or sugar might help. This is my third, though, so maybe that makes a difference... And I do not feel the baby every day.

Do you know where your placenta is this time? With my dd mine was on the front wall and I didnt feel her much at all until she turned and her kicks were high up... this time my placenta is on the back wall and I can feel this baby all the time (to the point where she makes me feel quite sick!). It really can be massively different from pregnancy to pregnancy x

I'm 19 weeks with my 1st and still haven't felt anything that I would say is baby.
As I have a fetal heart detector I know baby is fine in there as I can hear the heart beat loud and clear. I guess I will start to feel LO soon. I have my next scan on Thursday too so should be able to find lots out then.
xxx

I didnt feel anthing of much at all until 20 weeks or so - and that was with twins! I totally agree with busy baby in utero means busy out of utero - I had to go get Sam checked out a few times as he didnt move much not Fynn though is danced 24/7 once I felt them. And they are the same now lol

I saw a 4D ultrasound scan of a very active baby that was kicking like crazy, but mother couldnt feel a thing at that moment. Saw it somewhere on the web, dont remeber where tho...
So im sure its all fine unless doctor says otherwise :)
