No fetal pole at 6 weeks one day

Girls,

Could anybody offer some advice. I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant today. Over the weekend I started to cramp quite badly along with lower backache so I went for an early scan yesterday at 6 weeks one day. The sonographer was able to see the gestational sac which was measuring correctly and she could also see a yolk sac but she couldn't see a fetal pole. She told me not to worry, that it could have been too early but I can't help but worry now. For any of you that had an early scan, when were you able to see the fetal pole.

I am also worried that perhaps my body is trying to miscarry but can't because I am on progesterone support and I know from previous experience, that the progesterone support can keep a non-viable pregnancy going longer than it should.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

hi im not sure whether im any help but wen i was pregnant with my first had an emergency scan at about 5 6 weeks and they was a sac there but couldnt c baby so they booked me for followin week which is the worst thing ever wen u have to wait then on the next one there was a tiny dot there which is now a 2 year old monkey lol i know u always fear the worst but try not to cud u be early than u thought that could be the reason cause if u were only 5 weeks they wouldnt c anythin. and as for the cramps im nearly 3 months and am in agony sometimes. keep positive have u got another scan booked xxx

I had mine at 6 w 3 d. They only saw a sac. I was having like brown discharge or blood and cramps. This lasted for 3 days and now I hev the occassional cramps. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the positive, what has kept my hopes high is its not progressed to bleeding. I would be devastated if this goes wrong.

Snowflake are you sure about your dates? Is there any way you could be earlier than you thought?

Everyone is different and sometimes it can just take a little longer for bubs to develop...

When do you go back?

i was the same at 6wks 2 day only gest sac visable to sonographer, told to come back in two weeks and all was okay heartbeat seen and all as it should be, it was the hardest longest two weeks of my life but so worth it.. hang in there and hope all goes well xx

Hi SBB,

I am definitely not earlier in my dates as I had IVF and had two blasts transfered on May 6th which made me exactly 6 weeks and one day yesterday. It's such a worrying time. I had a missed miscarriage two years ago and it has taken us this long to get here again. I can't help but worry about every little thing and the fact that I have zero symptoms and have cramping and backache worries me.

I had a scan at 7w6d and was put back to 6w1d there was a 4.4mm baby and a clear heartbeat.. but i'm pretty sure i was a lot closer to 7weeks at the time x

i had a scan at 6weeks 6 days and i could only see a little tiny dot put me back 6 weeks as baby was only 3 mm and i went back 1 week later and baby was 15mm 7weeks 6 days! it had a masive growing spurt over a week so try not to worry your baby will just need a little grow and god they grow fast in such little time xx

I don't think you should worry just yet. They have seen the GS and the YS which is very positive. You never know the fetal pole could be visible today, that is how fast things are developing down there.

I am sure when you go back (I assume they have asked you back to rescan) you will see bubs and a flicker of a hb xx

I think just try and remain positive, hopefully at your next scan you will see little bubs with it's heart beating!

Im In The Same Boat Here!
Ive Miscarried Before At 9 Weeks..
Im 6 Weeks & 2 Days Pregnant, On The 6th Week A Gush Of Blood Came Out & I Was Terrified, There Was No Painful Cramps With The Bleeding & Withing Half An Hour The Bleeding Stopped.. Went To Hospital And All Tests Seem To Be Fine.. No Infections. Had A Scan Today & They Said The Pregnancy Sac Is There.. With No Baby But The Sac Is Measuring At 5weeks+.. I Had Ultrasound & Vaginal Scan And Still No Baby Found They Said It Could Be To Early To See Baby Or I Could Be Miscarrying Again.. But They Also Found Abit Of Blood On The Scan.. Got To Have Blood Tests In The Next Few Days To See Whether My Hormone Levels Are Still Raising Up & Then Wait For A Scan.. So Confused & Cant Wait Any Longer!

I was in your same panicked situation last week and decided to share a positive story in hopes of calming fears I went to ER for cramping was seen by ER physician who ordered sonogram. Was told I was 6w0d and there was a gestational sac, yolk sac, however there was NO fetal pole and definitley not a heartbeat...I was crushed. I tortured myself for the next week at work through internet research in hopes of finding well hope! I went back to the ER a week later for more cramping at a different hospital and again a sonogram was ordered. The tech not only saw my precious butter bean but the beautiful flicker of the heart beat as well beating away at 118! Moral: Have hope, some sono-techs and some equipment may not be as good as the next, and it just may be too early as in my case. Keep your head up and sending lots of sticky baby dust your way

i had a us done at 6 w 1 day and saw only a gest sac ad yolk sack but my md said she's letting me keep my due date. she said she is not worried about it that at my next us apponitment at 7 w 2 day i shuld see a fetal pole and possibly a hb. if i dont see a hb she said we will check again the week after. i have a great md!!!

I had a scan and I was dated at 6+2, could see a fetal pole and a heartbeat.

But the baby kept going in and out of focus, so from the picture we have it looks like an empty sac. So maybe the baby was hiding

I had a scan do at 6w5d and you could see the baby and heartbeat. We even got to listen to it too. Maybe their machine was an older one?
