Hi there,

just looking for some advice....

I'll try to keep this short...

we've had 1st IVF cycle at Glasgow Royal which resulted 13 eggs, 9 mature, 4fertilised, 2 grade 1 embies transferred but a BFN on 30.03.10  No frosties.

I thought we would get a follow up appointment prior to second cycle, but got letter saying sorry was unsuccessful but we can start next cycle when ready. I called clinic and spoke to a nurse who explained that appointments are only scheduled if Dr feels something needs to change in treatment (other than getting a BFP next time), I could certainly have appointment if i wanted but would be 2-3 months wait. If we want though we can book next cycle as soon as next AF arrives....

Not sure what to do........ if not seeing dr would rather just get on with it asap but I thought everyone had follow up appointment?

Any guidance most appriciated!

hi suse

i had ICSI last year at the Liverpool's Women hospital and didn't have a follow up before i had my FET. i have since found out i could have had one if id asked. i thought it went well. had 23 eggs, 14 mature, 11 fertilised, 9 frozen and 2 tranfered but AF turned up before test date. it didn't bother me that i didn't see the doc after i just started to prepare myself for the FET. if you have something that you really want to talk to the doctor about id phone them and make an appointment but if not id just relax and prepare yourself for your next cycle which i hope will be very successful for you

Hi Suse 4,

I had a follow up appointment after first cycle, but I asked for it as we had lots of questions. I think if the cycle went well apart from it not being sucessful they look at doing exactly the same in the next cycle. If your response had been poor or things had been cancelled etc they would bring you in to discuss it.
I have also found that the nurses are really helpful and willing to call you back for a chat about anything really.

Good luck with your secind cycle :flower:
