I had a hard time breast feeding my eldest as my Breast Milk didn't come in for ages & i got so emotional about not being able to feed her that whenever she cried for a feed i'd start crying too! So with my second i decided that i wanted to bottle feed straight away & never bothered with Breast Feeding.
This time i really wanted to give Breast Feeding a go - so while in recovery after my section i gave it a go and he latched on straight away! :happydance: I was so pleased. That night i spent most of the night nursing as he wasn't really getting much milk (if any) - & the following day i spent most of the day with him on the breast again but he was still not getting any milk - my boobs are completely dry! He wasn't settling because he was hungry so i gave him an ounce of formula just to make him a bit more content - tried expressing at the same time in the hope that it may help my milk flow but..........nothing......literally.
Today i've been trying him on the breast - maybe for half an hour at a time - but theres just nothing there - & when i say nothing, there's not even a drop!:cry::cry:
I've spoken to the midwife & she's said that as i've had a section it could take even longer than usual for my milk to come in!
I'm starting to try & pump every couple of hours just to get the flow going, but i can't even get a teaspoon full out between them! What do i do?
I feel like i'm having to give him formula to make him content & to get him to sleep, am trying a BFeed before doing so & am pumping but theres absolutely nothing coming in. Not even a drop! :hissy:

It's waaaaaaaay to soon to pump honey!!!! Dont do it - you wont get a drop. You shouldnt pump unitl BFing is established. I made the same mistake and got in a right state. Your pump is not the right kind of nipple stimulation at all. You may feel totally empty - I did too - but believe me you're not.
You said you sit and feed for half an hour - at this early stage ( I think your baby is still very young if I remember right) you can sit for HOURS at a time!!! I still can feed for over half an hour at a time now - regularly!!

Ditch the pump and the top ups for now get your lovely baby in to bed with you, strip off topless and just lay there cuddling and putting them to the breast. I was just the same as you - I gave up with my first but I really wanted to with my second. It was really hard and I wanted to give up too but you can get through it.

Have some time snuggled up, skin on skin, staring at that gorgeous baby and let the love hormones work their magic. :hugs:

I had a section as well, and my milk came in by the 3rd morning. Just keep that baby on the breast and your milk will come in. That is what I did.

Good luck hun!

My milk didn't come in until late in the 3rd day. Take Merv's mums advice and take your LO to bed with you. Remember babies are supposed to feed lots in the first couple of weeks and they really don't take a lot - a newborn's stomach is the size of a walnut.
