I've looked all over google, and asked in third tri, but got not responses :(

Midwife said today baby is 4/5's engaged.

Is that good. For labour does baby need to be 0/5s or 5/5s?

I keep finding conflicting thoughts where ever I look.

I'm so confused :(

xx

4/5 is good hun

when you get to 5/5 it means baby is
fully engaged and you're ready to rock and roll

another question, did you drink RLT, and if so, do you think it helped you??

xx

Hi hun, i remember with my first last year i got to 3/5 engaged i think a couple of weeks prior to birth, i was always disapointed when it hadn't moved down any more and my midwife told me that he probably wouldn't fully or further engage until the actual labour, but she said that was really good at 3/5 anyway!
Good luck.

Its good although baby can still come at any time. My second baby didnt engage at all untill I was in labour x

try hip swinging and squatting my midwife told me to do that bc bub didnt engage much until i was in labour, cant help you with the rlt question bc i dont know wat rlt is (what is Rlt?. but 4/5 engaged is good i was 4/5 engaged when my labour started whens ur due date

The best way to encourage her to move further down is to squat... not unsupported though!

You can try sitting on a step or the bottom stair, or even on an upside down bucket lol ... just as long as your knees are above your pelvis - sit on a step first to get the idea of the position I mean and then you can duplicate it wherever you want to sit :hugs: Tattie did it sitting on the sofa :haha:

Good Luck Hon ... I'm keeping an eye on you :hugs: Can't wait for your LO to arrive :happydance:

Rlt just helps to make contractions stronger once labour has started - it won't help to actually start it off :(

Provided she actually said 4/5 engaged then yes it's great, but these mws like to confuse us, last week mw put 4/5 on my notes under the engagement section but what she actually meant was 4/5 palpable, 1/5 engaged. Either way engagement means very little and can be uncomfortable, they can engage on the day they are born or weeks before ;) Summer was fully engaged from 36 weeks snd still didn't come until 40+2

Aw that's good to hear, she's getting ready to meet her Mommy! My baby was engaged for ages and still wouldn't come :(

what is Rlt?

raspberry leaf tea (:

xx

wow i must be really tired my brain is not working i 4 got most of the grocery shopping today.

i forced Rlt down well my impatient sister and oh more so forced me to drink it  i didnt like it but i cant stand any tea but thhe midwife did say it wouldnt bring on labour but was great for getting ur uterus ready for labour

It's a good sign hun as baby is nearly fully engaged

Altough Aidan was fully engaged at 31 weeks and he didnt come until 41 weeks :)
xx

4/5 engaged is good, when you get to 5/5 engaged it means babys head is the lowest in the pelvis it can be, so the head would be resting on your cirvix & you'll feel like you have a beach ball between your legs lol!

Bouncing on a birthing ball is ment to be very effective for getting baby in to the corect position for birth & helping to engage. Also walking is recomended too!
