Do some people not get a positive OPK ever? This is my first time using the OPKs and I am on CD 14 with only 10 days left until AF is suppose to show (CD 24). I have taken the OPKs since CD 9, with light pinks lines everyday, but no line as dark as the control line. My EWCM only started on day CD 10 and has been on and off since then. It looks like I don't ovulate early enough in my cycle to give a fertilized egg time to implant in the uterus :nope:

Anyone have any input? Thank you for reading!:flower:

Until this cycle i had never had EWCM or a dark OPK ever!

Not everyone gets noticable cm.

It does sound like your body is trying to ov by having the faint lines on the opks - do you temp as well as this is a great way of definately knowing if you ov

Thank you for replying! :flower:

Yes, my temps are still in the lower pre-ovulation zone, average about 97.3. When I ovulate, my temps go up to 98.4 and stay there until AF shows. I just thought the temp rise was a day or two delayed, but now it seems I don't ovulate around cd 12-cd 13 like I thought I did. I know a fertilized egg can take 6-12 days to implant, but as of now I only have 10 days left to ovulate, make a zygote and have it attach to the uterus :( Doesn't seem like good odds to me.

it could be that this month you havent ov - about 1 cycle a year is a flooky one, either no ov, or longer than normal etc

I would keep using the OPKs - do you test more than once a day - I took a test sunday night and got a faint line, monday morning bit darker then monday night dark

I only test once a day and the color fluctuates, some days are darker than others, but there is no gradual darkening or lightening. Maybe this is my weird cycle like you said :( That would suck as our TTC time is limited.

This is the first cycle i got a dark(ish) positive - i looked on FF gallery and not everyones are really dark dark

all my previous ones have been much lighter in colour

If you have them, test twice a day if the morning one has a colour to it

I really do wish you all the best hun - this ttc malarky is very hard on us

I would definitely test twice a day if you can. I've been using the "smiley face" digi ones. Sometimes I'll test in the evening after I detected my surge late morning and it will no longer be positive. It's possible you could have missed it.

i had the same. i had faint lines everyday for about 2 weeks and thought i was never going to get a clear positive. but this morning cd33...i got a strong positive where the test line was much darker than the control line. Ive now got ovulation pain as well.

Just keep waiting, you may still get a positive x

I always just get faint lines also so I just started using the smiley dig, to see if I can get a smiley but i always get O -Nothing but I'm having all the signs. I never have cramps/pressure this early in the month at cd19! I just relax and think positive and think maybe it's a strange cycle or the meds. I'm taking. GL hun

women can have the occasional annovulatory cycle. That being said, sometimes stress can delay O, and that is what makes the length of your cycle, not after O. If you only have a 10 day LP, I would get the doctor to do some blood tests. Either that or I would start taking b6 to try to lengthen your LP.

I don't ever seem to get a dark line. Infact the only lines i ever get are so faint , I can hardly see them. Most of the time there's nthing there at all. I must be ovulating as I did get pregnant (and mc) and that month my OPK was really faint.

I have never done opk's until a couple of months ago. I had three kids without a thought of temping or ovulation!

Same here, my past 2 months of taking the ovulation tests never resulted in anything...but it could be that i missed the ovulation as i took the tests only for 7 days...so this month i started taking it everyday since day 6. using the digital one. but it didn't show any positive..though i see since 2 days ago that the 2nd line is becoming more obvious, yet no positive indication of smiley face....don't know if i am ovulating? but see a change in my cm, so am i?

:flower:You are right, I should probably see the doctor again about that. Maybe I will look for a different doctor now. My current one won't do any tests until we have tried to conceive unsuccessfully for a year. I told her about abdominal pains I have and spotting just about everyday, usually before and around ovulation, and she said the pains sound like endometriosis but only suggested I take birth control... :growlmad:

I did finally get a dark line on the OPK last night (not as dark as the control line, but very close), but hubby had already went to bed. So maybe I can talk him into one last try tonight  Poor guy is worn out from all the BDing

I have also been reading about this, and I think you should always BD if possible when you show signs of fertile CM. So to be on the safe side, I assume I'm fertile when I have EWCM.

I suppose it will take a few months of temping/charting/OPKs to see what pattern your body shows. This is my first month doing OPKs so I may just not get a strong positive like other.

Good luck and I will update when my temp rises to ensure ovulation! :hugs:

have you tried more than one type of test? do you know the sensitivity and have you had blood tests? i personally don't ovulate on my own.

nope only used the digital one thought it was more accurate. no blood test either...if everyday for this month testing and still no positive...i think i may need to see a gynae...

personally i would it could be nothing, or it could be your LH levels are lower than that the test is able to pick up? i hope you get some answers but remember not everyone ovulated every single month so if this is your first month testing i would try another few months before seeking tests.

is tracking temp better than using the opk?

For me, temping is only good for telling when ovulation has passed, as your temperature goes up right after ovulation and stays elevated until AF shows. OPKs alert you to the surge in LH that occurs up to 38 hours before ovulation. So if you use temping every month, you will get an idea of when you ovulate. And then try to use the OPKs for the week leading up to when you normally ovulate, and it should let you know your most fertile time.
