Basically i'm 9 weeks pregnant today and for the past 2 days i've had quite strong stomach cramps quite low down. I had a similar worry around 6 weeks and the doctor was brilliant, he booked me in for a scan 2 days later, we saw the heartbeat and everything was fine.

I know a few twinges in your tummy are normal but mine have been pretty painful and i've had them for 2 days. ANYWAY..the doctor at the hospital was rubbish, he did a urine sample and it showed a positive test, he poked around my tummy a bit and said everythings fine, go home! :growlmad:

A positive test means nothing, tests still show positive a while after you've lost a baby so why the hell would that reassure me? I said this and i said i wanted a scan but NO, all he had to say was go home and take paracetomol.

So i'm still worried sick, wouldn't you be? I don't see how i'm meant to be reassured by this at all:cry: xxx

Doing a positive test is a complete waste of time as even if there is something wrong you haven't actually miscarried. You would get a positive test until it all came out and for a couple of weeks after. your doctor sounds rather useless in my opinion.

Is it possible you may have either a urine infection or really bad constipation, both of which are common in early pregnancy?

Unless you are bleeding you have feck-all chance of the NHS giving you another scan before 12 weeks as you have had one already. If you do have any bleeding get in touch with the EPU.
You could pay for a private scan if you want to put your mind at rest. Otherwise, just hang on in there till 12 weeks and remember if you are not bleeding you are most likely ok.

Aww that's RUBBISH!! Can you get a private scan?

There is only cause for concern if there is bleeding accompanying the cramps which is probably why he didn't refer you to EPU. I would get a private scan if you just want to put your mind at ease. I had severe cramping with no bleeding too at around that time but baby is fine and I'm in the middle of week 13 now. Doc said it was just pelvic/ uterine expansion. Try not to worry. x

I had severe cramping at 8 and 9 weeks with my first child...as long as you are not bleeding then there should be no need for concern, but if you are that worried you should go to the doctor and see if they can let you hear the heart beat with a doppler or do a scan...Don't worry so much!!! :hugs:

I was showing postive tests untill 4 days after i lost my baby! So i agree complete waste of time you doctor sounds like an arsewipe!

can you not ring your hospitals EPU and discuss it with staff there over the phone, thats what i did on sunday and had my scan booked for for monday :hugs:

I think everything is perfectly fine =] I went to the er for the same thing at 9+1 and it was just 'discomforts of pregnancy' - just don't do anything strenuous and they told me no sex until the pain went away.

definitely try the epu....say your surgery told you to ring, thats what i did and i got a scan the next day :hugs:

Thank you for the responses! Yep, the doctor was pretty shitty but if the pain persists i'll take the advice and contact the epu xxx
