When we first started ttc, nobody knew... after about a year and a half I exploded and told everyone we were starting the testing phase for TTC. It was difficult because everyone would tell me that it would happen, Nothing is wrong. I knew there was something! I just didn't know what it was.

After lots of testing they diagnosed me with LPD. My family and even DH thought it was just something to put a label on why its taken us so long. They kept telling me it was in my head. I knew it wasn't and knew one day I could tell them "I told you so". I really wish I hadn't thought that.

After 3 rounds of failed clomid, 1 miscarriage they are finally starting to believe me. It even took DH until after the miscarriage and the 3rd round of clomid when they increased my dose to 100mg and my follicle was still smaller than it should have been. That is when he finally believed me.

That was 3 weeks ago and we have been ttc for 2 1/2 years, nearing 3.

Now I hit the biggest and hardest milestone yet.... Friends who started ttc after us are now having baby number two...
I feel defeated.
Round 3 just failed and each cycle of clomid, my progesterone gets lower and lower....
round 1 - 50mg - progesterone=24
round 2 - 50mg - progesterone=23 (conceived- miscarried)
round 3 - 100mg - progesterone = 16.8

All days 3-7
I am not sure clomid is going to work for us. I am afraid to ask what the next step is. though we have 5 more cycles of clomid 2 at 100mg and 3 at 150mg.

Any Ideas why my progesterone is getting lower? Do you think I am giving up on clomid too early? What is after clomid, Dr. mentioned injectables but I am not sure what those are.
Sorry its so long..

I don't have any advice about the progesterone levels but I wanted to offer you some hugs! :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Have you talked to your doctor about having clomid + IUI?? I had to take progesterone after my IUI's to keep my levels up and help things along...maybe you should talk to your doctor and see if maybe you need to take some progesterone???:hugs::hugs:

Thank you so much for your reply.
I can not get progesterone until a pregnancy happens, Then I will be immediately put on it. They will also not do IUI as DH had a great SA

I am just frustrated, I am thinking about asking for day3 FSH levels tomorrow at my appointment... we shall see
Thank you

didn't wanna read and ditch, although I have no medical advice i just wanna send you many good vibes and :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thank you so much! I needed that. I have been feeling defeated since AF came yesterday. It was our first cycle trying since the mc

nobody belived me either... relax it'll happen... it'll be your time soon. I think you'll be fine... blah blah blah....

I belive you though and I know what its like.

You're in the USA and your doctor said you can't get progesterone until you've had a + hpt?

That's a little backwards actually. You need the progesterone to sustain a pregnancy, especially if you have lpd.

All of the fertility treatments I have ever done have started progesterone just a day or two after ovulation.

Is this a ob/gyn or an RE?

Your progesterone levels with clomid look just fine. I wouldn't give up on it just yet. But, I would insist on progesterone with it as well. :hugs:

Have you thought about switching clomid to days 5-9? I started on cd5-9 and after 3 cycles no luck but then read somewhere if you've tried 3 cycles at 3-7 with no luck switch to 5-9 and vice versa. Your prog levels are really good-the cycle I conceived it was 24. Because the number was so good my Dr. Wouldn't even prescribe it for me after my BFP which terrified me but so far so good.

God do I understand. We have been married the longest of all of our friends and siblings. Between the two of us, we have four siblings, three of them have announced pregnancies in the past 6 months! I was devastated, I still battle with trying to be happy for them, and being bitter and spiteful.

I would push the progesterone supplements! I am kindof in a similar situation, we will have been ttc for two years in August. I had a lap & hysteroscopy in March and my RE found stage 3 endo. I was very relieved now we had an answer!! I want to scream at everyone who told me it wild happen, just relax!! I knew there was a reason why it wasn't happening! I am in my third Clomid (50mg days 3-7), trigger, iui cycle post surgery. My DH SA is above ormal and my doctor had I problem doing the iui's! With the procedure, the sperm are concentrated and only the motile ones are injected into the uterus via catheter. Why won't your doctor do an iui? I have had spotting about 4 days prior to AF and we can't figure out why, every time we check pro (about 7dpo) it's fine. But I really think it drops off too soon. So my doctor has agreed to let me do the progesterone supplements this cycle and see what happens! It can't hurt!! Hope this helps!! Keep us posted!!

I'm in Canada's best fc clinic and in their initial blood work on my found low prog. I'm 36 and aging quickly. When they put me on a chlomid regiment I asked for prog so that I don't mc. My mother mc'd 3 times at around the same age...no way I want to have that happen. They said NO! They only perscribe it if you've had 3mc's. How f'd up is that? Excuse my french, the stupidity makes my blood boil.

Well, I'm in charge of my body, not some doctor. I just hopped over to my family doc who wrote me a perscription for prog cream for the whole year. There's a lovely compounding pharm 5 minutes away and my pms is much less now using it day 21-28 every month (I have a 32 day cycle). It's lovely stuff, it helps your skin keep it's elasticity, it decreases aches and pains and cramps during af, it increases cm and thickens lining while on chlomid.

If you go to a walk in clinic you can get it by telling them you've tried it previously and it really helped with your monthly symptoms , just don't tell them you're trying to get preg, they won't want to mess up the other docs plans for you.

Just know that if you use it outside days 21-28 you can inhibit your ovulation. If your cycles are short, shorten the length of time that you use it. Only use it after o and a few days before AF is expected. Use it too long and your AF will never come (accidently found this out the hard way...had a 42 day cycle-wooops!) Use it too early and you won't ovulate.

If your doc is moving too slow get another opinion, we women have timelines and deserve to get results. Go see another! I won't put up with too much BS when it comes to caring for my body, we deserve results in decent timeframes. I send you lots of hugs and stickybaby vibes!

aww hun, I am so sorry you are feeling so down! :hugs::hugs::hugs:. This LTTTC is so annoying, DH and I have been trying for going on 6 years next month! When we first started trying, we were not too concerned that it was taking so long but once we hit a year and a half I knew something was up. After three years I finally decided to seek medical help to see what was wrong. I was diagnosed with PCOS.

It was so hard to get people to understand, I heard a lot of, "oh don't worry it will happen, maybe you are trying to hard, try to relax" blah blah blah. One who has bever been through this don't understand, even our friends who all have children think they are helping by making comments like, "you are so lucky, you are not tied down, you can do what you want, you don't need to make bottles, burp, or change diapers." But deep down that is the longing we want. During the last 6 years I have learned that even if it takes 10 years for me to have my baby I know I am going to be an awesome mother because I have had the past 10 years to prepare.

I know when these things happen they can be very frustrating and when failure comes to visit us once again the cycle of sadness sets in. It sounds like you are in need of progestrone supplements. You should talk to your doctor about using the gel (the kind you rub into your skin) to ensure you are getting the progestrone you need in case another pregnancy occurs.

Don't give up on Clomid yet, it can take anywhere between 3-6 cycles for it to happen. You also might want to talk to your doctor about having you take your Clomid from cycle days 5-9 instead of 3-7. 3-7 helps you to produce more eggs in less quality when 5-9 helps you to produce eggs of better quality but not as many. One nicely mature egg is better than 4 small eggs of poor quality. Don't give up hope, something has got to give! I am praying that all of us LTTTCers get our BFP's this year!

good luck girl and lots of sticky baby dust to you!!!!!

My doctor is not a gyno... she is the fertility specialist in the ob/gyn's office. Unfortunately I accidentally pick a family friend of my in-laws as my gyno, (picked randomly off an insurance list)... now I would feel guilty about going to a fertility clinic because I dont want to convey that I dont trust what she is doing. But she is not the one doing the treatments.

At the appointment Jackie (fertility specialist) said that if my progesterone looked ok than I wouldn't even get it after a BFP!!! Now I am stressed out because I strongly believe that my progesterone dropped and that is what made us loose our baby. However no testing was done to see what happened. She does any testing that I ask of her, and she applauded me for always asking questions and bringing up research I have found. Also I can bring in my FIL (who is a family doc and knows the gyno) and have him talk to the Gyno (Dr. M). Since they are friends they will listen to my FIL and he wants nothing more than to be able to help us. When we miscarried, he wanted to go with DH and I to the follow up appointment and discussed what to do next time. He and Dr. M agreed that my progesterone is high enough to have a pregnancy, but not to sustain. I am just not sure Jackie is in on this. But believe me I will push!

Complicated enough??? Did I totally confuse you :winkwink:

Have you thought about switching clomid to days 5-9? I started on cd5-9 and after 3 cycles no luck but then read somewhere if you've tried 3 cycles at 3-7 with no luck switch to 5-9 and vice versa. I like that, I have seen the 3 then move on method. I did days 4-8 but I take clomid in the evening and started day 4, so like 4 1/2-8 1/2 because I couldnt decide 4-8 or 5-9:haha:

God do I understand. We have been married the longest of all of our friends and siblings. Between the two of us, we have four siblings, three of them have announced pregnancies in the past 6 months! I was devastated, I still battle with trying to be happy for them, and being bitter and spiteful.

So sorry, it SUCKS!! Thankfully none of our sibs are going to have kids. My Sister has two boys in highschool, and her DH is fixed. DH's sister does not want kids for a few years. But we had a nice chat one day and I asked her if it did happen for them before it does for us, if she would take me aside and tell me, not in front of anyone. I would be happy for them, but sad for us. . . so she said yes. Hopefully it doesnt come to that but I trust her enough to remember. I also have 2 brothers neither of which are in relationships or want kids soon.

I do however have cousins who have babies like baby factories... I even had an aunt have a baby a few months ago. When she found out she was pregnant she was addicted to crack. . . and has relapsed since he was born. Thankfully he was not born addicted. but my heart breaks.

Thank you. DH has what was called above average sperm. The doctor doesnt believe we need it since his boys swim just fine. And well I dont think DH would want to do the IUI, he had trouble getting tested... it took 4 months and 3 failed attempts. :haha: I would love to try that. I have to go in for mid cycle ultrasounds anyway.. I think if this cycle doesnt work than I am going to push for that next cycle. What was your progesterone? Its tested a 7dpo? I am always tested at 10dpo

Thank you, I often think about a massive title wave of all of us LTTTCrs moving over to 1st tri. like there is this miracle cure that once found LTTTC doesnt have to exist anymore. lol
I tried 4-8 this cycle but did it in the evenings so it is closer to days 5-9. I dont have a mid cycle ultrasound until 6/21 (day 16) and I am already going crazy waiting. :haha:

I did go on last night and bought some new lingerie for O week . Hopefully that will get DH's attention from thinking about what the dr. said and have the pressure to me and having fun. I dont even think I am going to tell him that I have an appointment until after O week occurs.

Wow, you are thorough!! :) They typically test your progesterone 7dpo, that's what all of the ranges are listed for. Doctors like to see anything above a 10 with an unmediated cycle and above 15 for a medicated cycle. Mine was 16.5 last cycle but judging from my temps it looks like I had my blood draw at 5dpo, so... Re your reply to readyformore, I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with switching over to a reproductive endocrinologist! It's your fertility and you have been at this long enough! There is something to be said for knowing your body! Just my two cents worth!!

You need to find a new doctor if they won't put you on progesterone now. If your progesterone is low, they should put you on it. That's RIDICULOUS!!! It's YOUR MONEY. It sounds to me like they're not doing their job, they're just wanting you there longer so THEY get more money...

Nobody believes me either. 3 people at work keep telling me everything is fine and if I just relax and stop trying it will happen. Even went to the doctor, they asked me how it went and I told them he thinks I have a thyroid and/or hormone issue so we are doing bloodwork, and he gave me an infertility booklet and they STILL tell me I'm fine, get real..it's really ridiculous. I was thinking the same thing today that I can't wait to finally show them how stupid and insensitive they are when I get my bloodwork back. Now I feel bad for thinking that, but I hate it when people act like they know everything about me, everything about my body, everything about TTC. One of the girls saying it is 18 and the other got pregnant first try, ALL while thinking you can get pregnant a day before your period...that's all I need to know, I really wanted to tell them to keep their mouths shut unless they knew what they were talking about.
