So my first day in the 3rd trimester is spent in the maternity assessment unit..

Last night I had reduced movements and usually feel LO alot at night. Didn't have too many movements this morning either so they called me in to get monitored. Movements were fine then (always the way!). Babies heart rate they expect to see accelerate when there's a movement, but my babies only did that once. I was kept on the monitor for an hour and failed the stress test. The midwife said the trace was okay but the fact the HB wasn't going up enough during a movement is why she was going to call the consultant.

Consultant comes and I hear her behind the curtain say that the trace was perfect and the midwife was being over cautious.

The consultant then comes to me and says everything is fine and go home. I'm like "but what about the heart rate not increasing during a movement?" She said it's fine and go home.

Why would the midwife be concerned enough to call her.. and why would I fail the stress test but then the consultant say it's fine. I've googled (silly me) and now I'm worried

I wish I had some advice but I don't hun. I just hope everything is ok! Dr. Google is a mean Dr so don't over research hun! Maybe talk to the midwife and ask if she trusts that particular consultant and maybe get a second up opinion?

I spoke to a midwife this evening and she said on the system it said they were happy with the trace before I left. But I wasn't told that...

She said if I'm worried come back in tomorrow for another one so ill see how I go over night and then see how I feel tomorrow. Thank you

I went back in today and had another. Same result failed the NST. She said SO many women at 27, 28 weeks fail the NST as the machine doesn't take gestation into account. Before 32 weeks they don't really expect to see heart beat accelerations with movement. Hence reason I'm failing. I'm still worried though...

I went in at 28 weeks and the mw did day to me that 28 weeks is about the earliest they can get a worthwhile trace, You're a bit less than that so what they said would make sense

Why do the trace then for me to fail and then worry me

Hun don't worry I had this it's cause the trace isn't rally accurate until 31 weeks

I had one at 27 failed
28 failed

31 passed x

Thank you Hayley. Not sure why they bother doing them then..
Did you have any ultrasounds after failing?
