Looking at other clinics today as my mum has mentioned the one I'm due to go to for 2nd round of treatment fell below the national average in 2009 in one quarter.

I didn't like that for EC I was in a room with about 6-8 other women who were coming round from their sedation and everyone could see me in my all together! (well pink slippers and my dressing gown!) lol I think when paying privately the amount of money we do we should have our own room!!! I found the whole thing embarrassing and lonely as DH was made to stay upstairs. maybe it's just me though I duno!

Does anyone else find this at their clinic? I had imagined DH would be with me holding my hand and there when I came around from the sedation.

Anyway does anyone recommend the southmead clinic? they seem to get great results...

(((big hugs))) to you. Sorry it wasn't a good experience. I was in a ward with 5 other women, but the curtains were always kept closed and it was very private. My DH was allowed in with me and I was sooo releived that he was there when I came round after EC. He was also allowed to come into the theatre for the transfer. I don't think I'd have coped if I'd been on my own!! I totally see your point about paying - I'd have thought that you'd get more say in having your partner with you, privacy etc.
I hope your next experience is much better xxx

ahh that's nice you had DH and curtains! wish i had that :(

I expect it will be the same as I'm due to try again at same clinic soon! doh! :(

Sorry your experience was so bad! To be honest i was not 100% satisfied with mine but in N Ireland there is not much choice!

My clinic had room for 3 people at a time but it seemed a bit if a conveyor belt. The staff were nice enough but at times, i felt they just wanted you to move along for the next person.

DH was brought through to wait a few mins just before i can out of theatre and while we did have curtains, you could hear literally every word being said next door!

It was my first time and i really didnt know what to expect but being on this forum has really opened my eyes to the difference in treatment across the country and indeed world!

Hmmm it's so hard to know what to do. I mean if it works it'll all be worth it but on same thought I really hated it being so public. 5-6 women in one room, no curtains and certainly a conveyor belt. Waking up on my own without my DH was hard and when I saw my egg result even harder. I was also ill afterwards, I was very faint and had to wait much longer to be released. My DH wondered what was going on! I was the last to leave! lol I just want him to be there and hold my hand, that's not too much to ask I don't think!

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. It's so scary, you need to feel comfortable when going through this sort of thing:hugs:

I'm at a clinic in London which we are paying for. When we were taken for EC it was a small ward, probably about 7 beds no more, each a cubicle with a curtain round them. It's not private and you can hear everything, so that was a bit strange. When I went into theatre oh waited in our cubicle for me and straight after EC thats were they put me. I would have hated not to have been with him and would have missed not having him there to look after me straight away.

Good luck with it, it's a long journey isn't it:hugs:

I don't mind if people can hear but having ladies watch me come around (prob dribbling!) lol is not that nice  I wonder if they have the option to make it a bit more private! didn't look like they did. Think I'll ask this time!!
