My little guy has been sick the last 3 feeds... one was more mucus than anything, which is good as I was told he may have those for a little while since he's a section baby..
but - i'm starting to get worried that he keeps throwing up the breast milk... is he maybe taking in too much and then getting sick? or should i maybe try another position?!

i don't know what to do!!!

Hiya, congrats on your new baby boy!

My girlie was mucusy for a good week after birth too and it DOES affect early feeds. For Gracie she didn't seem to want a lot of milk from me because the mucus was filling her tum so she 'thought' she was full.

Obvious question, but is Grady needing winding half way through a feed? Is he taking a lot of milk fast? Some ladies have a fast flow/initial let down than can cause trapped wind/colicly symptoms.

I guess it's one to watch over the next few days and speak to your midwife/health visitor if it persists for many feeds and gain their advice.

Hopefully others will be by soon with their advice

xxx

Hi congrats. Alfie was fine for a few days just a bit mucusy now he is sick after most feeds the HV says he's just a sicky baby. I would mention it on your next neo natal check up though. Try not to worry if Its not too much and remember a little does look alot.

Hebe was mucusy for a good week or so after the birth - she puked her very first feed up due to all the mucus she had in her tum. :(

Dont worry - it should settle. x

Well - he definitely gulps the milk! I tried switching positions so he's more upright for the feed but he was still sick... put him back on, and so far so good. But it wasn't as long of a feed... Guess it's not bothering him much though considering he's quite happy and sleeping.

Thanks girls!

You are doing a FANTASTIC job babe!! I love to hear a nice happy Mummy just 4 days in!!! WTG Natalie and Grady!! :happydance:

ya Nat, im totally jealous of how easy you seem to be getting on! My first couple weeks were an absolute nightmare trying to bf... Good job!

Long may it continue!!

And it's a bit like dieting.....some times you get weighed and you find you lost 3lbs when you really deserved to gain 2....you gotta remember that on the week you gain a pound when you did everything right.....

So maybe you'll have some tough BFing times ahead but remember these easy times when someone somewhere cut you come slack!! Keep at it boobie sista!! x

yep i remember Fred sicked after every feed initially hon it settled after a few days xx congrats and good luck xxx

Like Ryder said I'm so jelous of how well you are doing LOL
I really am sooo happy that things are working out sooo well for you during the first week!! Hopefully it keeps up this way :D
