I'm scared of what pregnancy and childbrith might do to my body.
I don't have the most muscularly toned body or anything like that- I barely even worked out that hard other than a bit of cardio, walking every day and the occasional swimming or YMCA work outs before I got preggo... Honestly, though.. for the past 16 weeks (i'm sixteen weeks along) I have felt SO lazy...I have about a five minute walk to the bus stop in the morning, and a five minute walk home after school plus I walk around campus all day durring the week, but other then that I seriously feel like I have zero motivation.
I've heard horror stories (and seen awful results) of women or girls with decent bodies having some pretty horrific results like stretch marks, loose skin, saggy booty, weakness and flabbyness in arms etc... I'm scared!
Not to say that I will be resentful at all- i mean no matter what my body looks like afterward I'm going to love my little one, so this is merely a minor panic attack ... but I've always been a fairly active person even if it's just being motivated to do housework, walks around the block for fun, to the store, etc... but i feel like pregnancy has turned me into an over-eating, movie-watching lazy, teary lady!

Has anybody had this problem? has there been any good motivators to help you? I mean obviously to have a nice post-baby-bod ... but that really doesn't seem to be enough for my psyche! I love yoga and even pilates but it just is a matter of getting my arse off the frikkin couch/bed to do it! My boyfriend says he wants to do yoga with me but i have a feeling that's not gonna happen... haha.

Any advice helps! or experiences ! thanks ladies xo

Don't do more that you ever did pre-pregnancy. I had a bike machine in front of the tv for a while but then I got SPD and became stuck to the sofa most of the time lol, even going for a brisk walk before you start to waddle :haha:

I've been having a few body issues of my own tbh, obviously I was well aware that I'd put on weight during pregnancy, but I made the mistake of seeing just how much I've put on :( i'm now nearly 9st :/

I know how you feel with the motivation though, i'm having such trouble sleeping at night I have no energy during the day D: I've never been incredibly active but I used to go out every day and walk everywhere but that's now out the window :L

Other than walking and prenatal yoga, I'm not doing much else. I'll worry about loosing weight and toning my body after my son is born. I've gotten rather clumsy and didn't do much pre-pregnancy so haven't added anything but a few more walks. Plus I've got a lot going on, second semester of college, third trimester, moving, and last minute preperations for the little one.

But after I get the OK from my doctor I'm going to start working my butt off to get this weight off. I might even do the P90X with my fiance once I feel up to it. Our friend had her daughter a year ago September and has since lost 75lbs and looks amazing.

I know I'm not motivated right now to do anything more than yoga and walking, but after is what I'm really preparing myself for. I've already started eating healthier (save for my cravings every now and then) but I make sure I'm eating right all the other times so I don't feel super guilty about having a root-beer float (was craving it for the longest) and even then I make sure not to go over board on it.

I think you're doing fine. There isn't much we can do while pregnant, especially if we weren't used to jogging 3 miles every other day (I know someone who does this, only cut back to a mile). Just keep doing what you're doing and make a plan for after you've given birth and have the OK from your doctor. Also, don't jump into it all at once, start off slow and build up to it. As long as you're motivated, you'll get back to your pre-pregnancy size or even better! :)

My motivation is just being able to wear nice clothes, and be a hot mamma, lol. I've always been overweight, so for my son, I want to be able to like the pictures we take together instead of secretly hating my body. I can't be 100% there for him if I'm unhappy with myself, you know? Hope I've helped a bit. :flower:

oh my gosh thank you! that was so insightful and I can totally relate.... That actually makes a lot of sense and I can totally understand that now... I was really worried but that actually kinda put my mind to ease( which is a surprise because i've been going crazy about just about everything!)
i'm in my first semester of college - just barely started- and walking around wears me out as it is... plus this baby is rapidly growing (or so it seems) plus my fam and my boyfriend are totally overworking my emotions- given it's not exactly their fault- but i still feel warn out every day even if i haven't done anything!

I often feel guilty about that cause my guy works all day almost every day of the 7 day week and does hard labor (what a good man i have- supporting us) but still! jesus. haha

thanks everybody again.

Try your best! With my pelvis and size I sat about and gave into every craving and put on 5 stone (70lb) :/ I hate having photos of me and LO or me, OH and LO because I look awful now.. And it's harder work to get rid of it than keep it off! :)

You're more than welcome. :)

I think pregnant women need to accept that, yes, their body isn't going to look the same after being pregnant and having a baby, but you can get it back. Yes, it'll be hard, but we have enough to worry about during pregnancy already. We can't help that our weight falls to the wayside.

As long as you're eating healthy, taking your vitamins, and getting in moderate exercise leave your post-pregnancy body worry for post-pregnancy.

I for one feel that I will be motivated enough to start really getting my body back when I'm able to post-pregnancy. I'm taking a semester off (about four months) so I'm hoping by the start of the third month I'll be able to add in some P90X with my walking and yoga. My son will be coming along for the walks, and will be near by in his bouncer while I do yoga. P90X will be left for when he's being watched by family or when he's sleeping.

Also, don't set yourself up for failure by setting your weight loss goal too high! Start with 5lbs a month at first, then when you loose more you'll feel more motivated. Then go up 5lbs when you feel comfortable. And remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so once you start gaining muscle tone you won't see much difference on the scale. Visibly you should notice a difference though.

And I totally can relate to your situation. I just finished my first semester but only took one class due to a scheduling screw up that wasn't changed in time. This time though, I'm taking four classes four days a week and I have school up until April 4th and my EDD is April 30th! Lol. So I'm gonna be huge and tired, but hopefully I can get through this.

My OH works a lot too, and while I do go to school and help around the house, I still feel like I laze about a lot. But honestly, he doesn't mind and knows that there isn't much I can or should be doing besides school work and preparing for the LO. Plus I have prenatal appointments more often now, and Lamaze classes, breastfeeding classes, hospital tour, and planning a baby shower. So I still do a lot, just not work wise.

that's actually such a good idea for a weight-loss, get in shape plan! I love it!

Haha that's hillarious- My due date is June 30th and I'll be in school until June 14th ... so I can totally relate to that, too! Huge tired and workin hard, I take three classes four days a week so it's been tiring already for me - thank god I'm finally getting past the morning sickness ... now the back pain kicks in. AH. But motivation is key I guess.... I am really motivated to at least finish this year. It feels sooo far away but hopefully I'll get through it! I'm looking forward to those planning stages, and luckily so is my man!

Thanks! I've thought over my own post-pregnancy weight-loss plan a lot. Along with reading up on some things, I feel what I've come up with best fits me and my future schedule. Hopefully. Lol. I've tried not to put too many expectations on myself especially since I won't know how much I can handle, but I defiantly expect to keep my usual routine up.

And oh man, we're gonna be so ready for a break once school is over. :haha: I never had morning sickness. My back has started hurting though, but it's not too bad yet. I expect it'll be getting worse soon.

And it's good that your OH is looking forward to everything! It's great when they want to be so involved. I think, for us at least, it helps that we're having a boy. He's completely excited to have a son, and I'm just glad there will be another boy in my family. I've grown up with four sisters and one brother, so I'm very tired of pink, lol.

That sounds really thoughtful, I think that's definitely what I need to start doing, just to calm my nerves a little bit haha.

Right!? I'm already ready for the break and the quarter just barely started... oh god haha. But yeah, you're lucky about the morning sickness...I broke my hip a couple of years ago chasing my friend around, and it never healed properly so my midwife and doctors all tell me that it'll probably just get worse and worse throughout my pregnancy so I'm kinda scared, but hopefully yoga and back rubs from my guy will help!

haha, well my boyfriend and I were really hoping for a boy, and we don't know yet (won't for a couple weeks) but now everybody in our families are saying that they think it'll be a girl... I have a little brother and two sisters, and my family is full of girls in all the other generations too... but right now my two year old cousin and my eight year old brother are living in the house with us- both rowdy boys so i could use a little sweet girl!

My motivation to work out has been the benefits it gives you and your baby. :) They say women who work out during pregnancy can have easier times with delivery, and your whole body is just overall healthier. Not saying everyone who exercises during pregnancy will have an easier time with delivery/labor, but if theres even a chance i'm gonna go for it lol.

totally! that's actually one of the things that I've looked into and has urged me towards building up that motivation!

OMG, i know! I was a Varsity Softball Player, (and a damn good one if i do say so myself), and generally athletic, but ever since I've been prego i havent been able to play or work out too much. I mean, Ill do jogs every now and then (although tbh I stopped doing that around 20 weeks. Once the bump started coming in strong It was just too awkward), but I just wish I could do more... :/

Yep I totally understand! I'm only 16 weeks but i swear i can feel this little cutie growing rapidly day by day ...and I swear I get more awkward and more lazy every frikkin day! haha

Same here! I was pretty tiny before I got pregnant but now I'm packing on the pounds! I hope I'll be able to lose it all after my baby is born Hopefully with only minor stretch marks >.<!

Yeah I'm not exactly worried about losing weight- I was never exactly "tiny" , I've always had a certain amount of curves and my share of little rolls here and there, I just want to be able to stay healthy and active ! i feel lazy
