Hello everyone :flower:

So, here I am... our 5th iui with Femera and trigger shot failed. I'm SO sick and tired of all this. I really dont know how much more I can take!

Anyways, I'm going in to talk to my doctor in about a week, and want to have some good questions for him.

Im 28, DH is 28. We have a 7 year old boy (concieved on the pill!) and it makes no sense why we are on year 2 of this!

Im taking 2.5mg femera (just like clomid) and the trigger shot. I get one ultrasound at about 11 days into my cycle to see how the follicles are doing. I go back in and do the sperm wash, and insemination. And wait.....

I feel like we could be doing more. I know some Fertility specialists do 2 inseminations. One right before you ovulate and one the day you ovulate. I also have never had my progesterone levels checked. should I? I know some people go in 12dpiui and get a blood test to see if it worked, just so you dont have to wait and freak out for another few days. sorry, im ranting.

Is there anything I should ask about continuing on the IUI path, but with some different options? My insurance covers ALL of IUI's, and NONE of injections or IVF. So I have to stick with IUI's until further notice....

thanks ladies!!!

Hi RayeAnne, I'm sorry it didn't work. I guess AF showed up? I have also wondered about two inseminations etc as it seems fairly common? I also haven't had my progesterone levels monitored, however I am on suppositories. I am still going in on Tuesday for my bloodwork if AF doesn't show up before then. I did a hpt this morning (10dpiui) and got a BFN - so hopefully it's just too early? I can't really help with the whole IVF thing, just wanted to say sorry and thinking of you. Good luck with your next cycle x

Thanks Carnie2!!
Yes, AF showed up this morning. 1 day late, what a tease!
How many IUI's have you done? Im not even taking suppositories. Should I be?
I just feel like it's very cut and dry. And I would like other options!

Thank you for thinking of me, and I hope you get your BFP this month! 10dpiui is still pretty early!! FX for you!

Hi Ranne I've got unexplained as well with two other kids one 14 and the other 12 I have just turned 36, I was told that with unexplained infertility we'd only have a 5% chance of IUI working and less then a 5% to concieve in the next 5 years without help. I do believe these numbers because I haven't been on birth control since before my daughter so about 15 years. We were put straight to IVF and out chances are right around 37%-40% mark to get pregnant. We were told to expect to achieve a pregnancy in three cycles or less.

I live in Melbourne and an egg retrieval cycle will cost almost $8000 however we get a good portion back and will pay just over $3000 for the cycle. For an Egg Transfer cycle it will cost about $1500 and IUI would have cost around $1200 so for us it made sense to move forward with IVF in January. I know how frustrating it is to already have kids and then this happens, you need to get some real numbers from your doctor so you can make a decision that works best for you.

Best of luck to you!!
