Hi ladies :flower:

This is my first visit into this section. I am feeling a bit lost and dont know where I belong

My OH and I have been ttc for just over a year now, I know it isnt that long really but it seems like its been forever :nope:

I was just wondering how long you ladies were ttc for before you went to the doctor coz i'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong. :nope:

Hope you ladies can help me :)

I would go to see you doctor get some blood tests and maybe sperm analysis done x

Hi.

I agree with the poster above.

We went to our doctor at 1 year and they started the ball rolling with an SA for my husband and blood tests for me.

I personally went to the doctor before the one year mark as I knew I wasn't ovulating.

Are you doing BBT or OPK?

thankyou ladies, I am doing opks but never get a positive, although i dont use them every day. When is the best time of day to use them?

Will blood tests be able to show if I ovulate or not?
:flower:

A blood test taken at certain points of your cycle will confirm if you are ovulating.

If you haven't ever gotten a positive OPK I would highly recommend that you start taking your temperature at the same time every morning (after at least 3 hours of sleep) and putting all the information into some free charting software like Fertility Friend. Once you have been doing this for a few months you will be able to see clearly if you are ovulating or not. If it is showing you aren't then you can print these off to show your GP.

I know it may seem that using OPKs would be easier but they don't prove you are ovulating even when you get a positive whereas charting does. I hope this helps :flower:

thank u so much, am gonna check out fertility friend now :)

Im in the same boat. just hit one year...
Apprehensive about goin to the Dr cause im scared of something being wrong...
know its not the right frame of mind.. cause it might be something small and easy to fix.. but im a big chicken..lol..

Depending on where you're located in the world, some doctors won't help you if its only been one year, they make you wait until the 2 year mark. Where I am in Australia, its what they do. So my partner and I have just passed the 2 year mark and even after reaching 2 years, they still gave us an appointment that was 5 months away from when I contacted them about the appointment! :(

Hi ladies!

I went for checks after I've hit the 1.5 year mark last year, but then decided to change gynaes. I've just started with this new gynae in January 2012, after hitting our 2nd year.

I agree that some gynaes are not really helpful if you've only been TTC'ing for a year unless you are above 35 years of age.
