My son is 3 weeks and is on Aptamil first milk. The midwife recommended that we give him 3oz each feed every 3 hours. At his 2 week weigh in he was 6lb 10oz (he was 5lb 12oz at birth) and I haven't had him weighed this week so not sure what he weighs at the moment but 3oz doesn't quite seem enough at times. At at least 2 feeds a day he will guzzle the 3oz and 20 mins later be crying for more so we make him another oz which he takes but then he is sick after and brings the oz back up. He always finishes the 3oz but doesn't always cry for more. I wondered if it might be wind but the cry sounds different when he has wind, this is definitely a hungry/angry cry when he doesn't get it!!
I'm not sure if we should try giving him 4oz and just go with what he wants? Only issue I have with that is when we first put the bottles up to 3oz he was quite sick with quite a few feeds so think we tried that too soon. I was thinking of giving him a 4oz feed before bed and one mid morning when he would usually cry for more and see if that helps?!
Is anyone's LO doing anything similar, I know all babies are different and Sam has more bottles than the box suggests but the midwife said that was fine because he was born small and has some catching up to do...she says he is feeding little and often but it seems he is feeding a lot and often lol!!
