Not sure what to do?

Hey girls,

Hope you don't mind me asking a question.

I am currently 8+3, and I just had a scan three days ago to confirm that my threatened miscarriage was over. However, I am really worrying about the next few weeks. I lost my last baby at 10wks from MMC but the EPU don't feel I need a scan there so my next one is my NT at 12+1.

Money is tight at the moment but I probably could scrape together the money for a private scan. I am just wondering if it is truly worth it? If something happens at 10wks there is nothing I can do about it, as much as it will break my heart. If I get a scan at 10weeks then by 10+1 I will be scared again. Although, I am so worried about that time maybe the stress will be too much.

If you were in my shoes, would you go for the private scan or just wait until the NT and hope and wish for the best?

I agree babe see if the mw will see you around 10 wks if you still feel the need maybe arrange a private scan for 11wks? But I have said this before and will say it again I truely believe you wont need it as baby is here to stay darling

PS your NT scan will be fine as its the day before my birthday xxxx

i know how you feel my next scan is 17th feb... il be 12+3 really wnated one at 10 weeks

like everyone said see if your mw will see you? im gona ask mine too, however like you said if something happens at 10 weeks theres nothing you can do

hi katie, i'm sure everything will be fine for you this time around but i know what you mean with the worrying i will be exactly the same as you when i get my bfp as you know i was 10weeks too so like you said 10 +1 will be the hardest day, only you know what will reassure you hun so if you feel a scan would then go for it xxxxx

hiya hun, i wouldnt spend your money on a private scan because you will be having one only 2 weeks after that for free. I totally understand why you would want a scan because for me in this pregnancy untill i passed the six week mark (when i misscarried last time) i couldnt convince myself things would turn out ok.

i think the more scans the more worry it causes, then we worry about the days coming up to the scan and we get even more anxious

i think it would be a good idea to go see your midwife at ten weeks so she can feel your tummy and listen in with a doppler to reassure you that everythings ok

i was obsesed with MMC in first tri and had to go from 7 weeks to 13 weeks with no scan and really thought id get bad news, hang in there! xx

Did they see the heartbeat hon? I would talk about it with your midwife too...I am sure with your past, she will be understanding.

Thanks for the advice girls. Yep, got a lovely heartbeat at 5+5 and 8 weeks. But, what I can't get out of my head...is that I got the same last time.

We really need to save money. Think I am just going to get my head down and push through until 12 weeks hoping for the best.

Save your money. Put it towards something positive like baby clothes.

We had a private 8 week scan and it was reassuring only for a few days and then we were back to being anxious again. Not quite to the same degree of anxiety but it was still there.

I know 2 weeks can be an eternity when waiting for a scan but it is the 12 week scan which is more significant as after that the chances of m/c significantly reduce.
