I was induced because baby was measuring small in my last two pregnancies. This time they arranged a consultant scan for my 20 week scan to check on my placenta to determine whether or not I was high risk again for IUGR and what was going on.

I apparently have notching on both sides which means that the placenta isnt functioning as well as it should be and am likely to have another baby with growth problems. She didn't say anything else really but I've googled it:)dohh:) and I'm reading this means I am at a very high risk of IUGR, Pre-eclampsia, Preterm birth and placental abruption. Obviously I am now concerned/worried! I'm starting regular growth scans from 24 weeks

Any advice or anyone else who's had this and what happened?

Bump! Nobody? The only thread ive come across is years old

I had uterine notching only on one side, I was already high risk of pre e, which I went on to get, I had my baby at 35+5 and he was only 4lb 9oz , I was already on aspirin daily I just had extra growth scans x

Thanks perfect_pink. I hope i don't develop pre-e! They never seemed that concerned about ny blood pressure last time even though one consultant said to be monitored bp was twice a week. Georgia was born 37+4 5lb 5oz.
im hoping they keep an even closer eye on my blood pressure this time. IM having growth scans from 24 weeks and taking aspirin so cant do much else really! X

They will do, I had growth scans every 10 days and any sign that baby isn't growing they told me they would deliver, that's not why I hAd him early though x

With my first pregnancy I had pre e and baby had IUGR, she was born at 35 weeks and 4 lbs 3 oz. During my second pregnancy I was sent for a scan to check on the placenta and I did have notching on both sides, I saw a specialist after my scan and she went over everything with me. At that time I was already taking baby asprin since 12 weeks. I had a few more ultra sounds and as my pregnancy progressed I was told baby was growing normally but would probably be smaller (they guessed in the low to mid 6 lb range). I had a sweep at 38 weeks to enable me to have a vbac and baby was born weighing 7 lbs 9 oz ( i didn't have GD). My OB was very surprised. I don't know why the notching didn't affect my second pregnancy. I haven't had this type of scan with my current (3rd) pregnancy, I really would like it and have suggested it to my OB, but I'm not too positive I'll get one this time around and it does make me slightly nervous.

Thanks itsjana. Great news that your second baby was born such a great weight considering everything!
im also surprised they haven't given you a scan to see how the blood flow to placenta is this pregnancy, i would definitely push for one! Aare you going to have routine growth scans? Did they want baby to come early the second time around and why you had a sweep at 38 weeks? Or were they going to let you go to term?

x

I hope they give me routine growth scans, so far baby has been on track for growth so I may not.

I was given a sweep at 38 weeks for a few reasons. My blood pressure started to go up at around 34 weeks and at the appointment prior to my sweep there were trace amounts of protein in my urine. I also had a c section 16 months prior, so in order to have a vbac I had to go into labour without being chemically induced and couldn't go over 40 weeks.
