Nursing at about 12 months, what does/did your baby do?

Just pondering over here, as it is night time in New Zealand and everyone is asleep apart from me!

I know it is like asking how long a piece of string is, but how often do or did your babies nurse at 12 or so months?

Thomas was nursing 3x a day, and Sophie not at all by this age (we never made it back from a nursing strike). Emma will nurse apon waking in the morning, then after her first nap, eat lunch, nurse again before her second nap, and the frequency just intensifies as the day continues. So between waking from her second nap and going to bed, she might nurse 3 times, then she wakes 3-5 times a night to nurse also. Day feeds she takes both sides, but just one side at a time at night.

She eats lots of solids too and has a varied diet.

She's just started doing this lip-smacking thing and yanking at my shirt, which half of me finds hilarious and the other half gets annoyed! I can't have a shower when she's awake as she just makes an eating motion with her mouth, says "num num num" and waves her arms at my chest!

She's only just had her first ever drink of water yesterday. Not for lack of trying on my behalf!!! I've bought so many cups over the months. She managed a few sips and seemed to like it, but it has been a little tiring being someone's only source of liquids for so long. My other kids loved cups. She's had the slowest weight gain too, she was 7.38kg at 6 months and was 8.5kg when she turned 12 months.

Anyway, not sure what the point of this thread is, just wanted to see what other babies/toddlers were doing at a similar age.

Holly about 20 times a day

James was about 5 times a day and a few times at night.

Oh no lol! I think Emma will be like Holly, she adds in more and more nursing sessions every month. The only times she isn't so keen is when we are in public, like at school with Thomas or grocery shopping. I can't get over how she doesn't take in any other liquids, Thomas and Sophie were mad about cups! I keep worrying she will get dehydrated but doesn't seem to.

She is probably getting all the hydration she needs from the feeds. James was obsessed with cups too!

Neither of mine started cutting down of their own volition until after 14 months. I think a 12 month old is still very much a baby and they sort of grow into being a toddler a bit later than that, even though we like to think of one year olds as not being babies anymore. I'd still feed her on demand at her age.

Thanks! Yes, it is very much a demanding baby and a tired mummy here, haha. I can tell she's nursing at night mainly to get back to sleep, but we are bed sharing so I can go back to sleep again quickly. She's so different to Sophie, who seemed to reject the breast as quickly as possible.

Aliya was nursing constantly all day and night then lol it felt like it was was just getting more and more and she would get angry if I tried replacing it with other things at times so I ended up weaning her at 18 months. It was just too stressful for me and I wasn't enjoying it anymore :/

My LO had that same pattern of increased frequency as the day wore on too but she ate a ton of food too. We'd pretty much cut out a mid morning feed in favour of a snack if we were going to a toddler group, but after lunch she'd have milk 3 times, then dinner, then a before bed feed, then two or three times in the night. So on a busy day 7 feeds, on a stay at home day more like 10! She was eating adult sized portions of food and still wanting fruit, yoghurt, oat cakes, hummus, anything afterwards. In pictures you can see she gets quite a bit chubbier but she was getting ready for walking and talking. She went from just under 9th centile to just above 25th (where she has stayed, although she doesn't look chubby anymore as she started to move about!).
