O Rhesus Negative & Group B Strep

is there anyway you can discuss having oral antibiotics instead with your mw? There must be an alternative for those with severe needle phobias which you obvioulsy have hun :flower:

Or if they can give you an injection every few hours rather than have an IV with the antibiotics in?? I'd say voice your fears with your mw and make sure she realises how serious this is for you xxx

I have gbs and was admitted last week for iv antibiotics, after having some intense contractions at 18 weeks. I also have a cervical stitch in due to a previous loss at 22/23 weeks.
I had 12 hours of high strength abx and it did settle down my contractions (could have well been unrelated - we will never know).
I was so stressed about perhaps losing another baby, that the cannula was really the least of my worries. It didnt hurt, as most docs use local anaesthetic to put them in. (I certainly do when im putting them in people). Its essential to give IV antibiotics to decrease the baby's chance of acquiring gbs at delivery.
