omg im sobbing like a baby!

me and dh had decided to get a kitten, as i cant work due to ill health and as he is at work every day it would be xomething to keep me company. We ren so we asked the landlord and he said it should be fine.

so dh just got a text from landlord saying that they had asked some cat owners and it appears we have the wrong sort of carpet and blinds. so we cant have one.

im sorry im just so fed up,. since we got married nothing has gone right, literally not one thing and im so fed up. im so lonely and all i want is something to keep me company. preferably a baby but that doesnt seem to be happening either.

i dont know why im so upset but i cant stop crying.

uh? wrong carpet and blinds mmmmmmm tahts new one on me, we have a cat and a dog, but never ever heard of wrong furnishing, :/

can you change the blinds at least???? I don't get the carpet thing (or the blinds!!!)... I hope he changes his mind... Just doesn't seem right... ;(

its like a textured one kind of. ring tuffs or some shit. and vertical blinds. wich we never close anyway.

no there his but we never have them shut anyway and like hubby said we would make sure the cat sisnt do any damage and even if it did we would replace it

your landlord don't sound very nice! Oh huni i hope things start turning rond for ya mwah xxxxx

hes actually a lovely guy whops a mate of my dads so i think thats whay i am so shocked and upset. he KNOWS we take good care of the house, weve even done improvements to make it bewtter out of our own pockets... im blubbing like a baby. i hadnt even thought bout getting one till last night, then hubby mentioned he was gonna get me one for my bday so said i could have it early but now i cant.

Aw, bless you Schnoodle. I know what you mean - I have cats and they're great for a cuddle when you need some company. Is it worth talking to the landlord again or have you tried everything you can? Would he think about some other pet like a guinea pig? Hopefully it's a sign that you're about to get a BFP so you don't need a stupid cat anyway!?!

xxx

we may text him but i dont want to appear rude.

im just so upset... all i want is something to love and something to loe me back x

would it be rude to text and say if the cat causes any damage which it wont cos it wnt be in on its own weell pay for it?

It's not rude in the slightest to at least ask....could even suggest a 'cat deposit' (like £50 or something) if he's really worried xx

Sounds like your landlord has just had a change of heart. I've had cats all my life and have never heard of "the wrong kind of carpet or blinds".

However, i have seen the damage that they can do if they want. My mums cats are very well disciplined but as soon as your back is turned they scratch holy hell out of the bottom stair - to the point she has had to have it re-carpeted three times. She has now bought a few meters of the carpet to store for when they do it again as she doesnt want the carpet to be discontinued and have to recarpet the whole hall.

I've seen cats pull blinds down and scratch sofas to death (mine did!) they know they are doing wrong as they run away the moment I walk into the room when they are doing it and the only way to stop them is to not allow them into the room alone.

A £50 deposit as someone suggested just wouldnt cover the cost of the damage they could do.

Sadly as a tennet theres not much you can do about it. I hope you find some kind of comprimise with the landlord as cats are good company.

Sounds to me like you're emotional!! Good sign! Only joking, this whole ttc process is incredibly stressful and you never know what's going to start it off. I bawled last week because my brother is so excited about his new car and new job and I sooo happy for him but he made me realise how sick I am of my life at the moment. It'll be our turns soon and then you'll be grateful you aren't tripping over the cat while you're juggling baby's!! xx

Some cats do a lot of damage but our three don't. We've got several scratching posts dotted about the house and if they look like they're going to misbehave we click our fingers and they stop. Our carpets and sofas are completely unscathed. If a cat is trained well from day one they you shouldn't have problems imo. I know that not all cats are like that - we had one which used to mark his territory and we took him to a rehoming place. But as long as you train them there's not normally a problem.
