So, my first appointment is next Tuesday, barely under a week away. It seems like an eternity! And like the "smart" expectant mother who has experienced previous loss, I've been researching. My doctor has an ultrasound scheduled and I should be right at 6 weeks. The consensus on whether or not one should be able to see a heartbeat is mixed, which has me freaking out a bit as that was what signaled problems with my last pregnancy (ended in a mmc). So, I'm hoping you ladies will be willing to share and give me an idea of how much hope I have. How many of you have had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and seen that precious flutter?

I did. We were ~7 weeks based on LMP, but I always ovulate a week later than normal, so Lauren measured just under 6 weeks at our first ultrasound. We saw a good, strong heartbeat and the tech was even able to measure it (~130 bpm), which surprised her because it was so early. That said, I went into it knowing there was a good chance we wouldn't see anything that early.

Good luck!!!

My dd was 6 weeks 5 days - a week and a half younger than we thought. No problem then. I'm just anxious this time because last time baby measure 5 weeks 5 days and never showed a heartbeat. I think that my anxiety over this pregnancy will be lessened (never goes away) as soon as I see that good, strong heartbeat and have that picture to hold onto. I have want to record the u/s so I can relive it, but only after I get good news. (I can't even count on hcg levels since last time they were high enough to support a pregnancy of multiples at 5 weeks and didn't drop until the miscarriage was induced 5 weeks after the pregnancy ended). Really long way of saying thanks for the reassurance/sharing the experience.
