obstetrician appt tomorrow

Hi I have my first obstetrician appointment tomorrow and feeling rather nervous and apprehensive about it as I dont know what to expect really

My OH has taken time off work to come with me thankfully but just wondered if any of you ladies had seen one and what they first appointment is likely to involve??

I have an overactive thyroid, Im overweight (as I was with DS but never saw an obstetrician) and have a couple of other risk factors.

I was really nervous too. But it wasn't that bad. My 1st appointment was basically going over family history, took some blood, did height and weight, blood pressure. I was due for a pap, so she did one. Since you are 17 weeks, they will proabaly try to hear the heart beat. Well at least that is what they do here in the states. Just like you I am overweight and have thyroid issues.

Hi thanks for the reply I really hope they will try hear the heartbeat it might help dispel some nerves I have about how the pregnancy is progressing probably panicking over nothing but I cant help it xx

I am always nervous until my next appt until I hear the heart beat. I go back Monday for my 16 week check up. Then i won't have another appointment for 4 weeks, which will be when we find out what we are having.

The wait in between appointments is killer. my last was a few weeks ago at 16+4 and I'm on standby for 21+4 to find out gender. It's so nerve wracking in between....I've been thinking about borrowing my sister's fetal Doppler to set my mind at ease.

Im honestly thinking of investing in a doppler, maybe after we come back off holiday
We have our 20 weeks scan on 4th August late afternoon and the wait is killing me off I stress over having no symptoms because my pregnancy with my DS was awful in comparison I was sick 24/7 right until delivery, so having no symptoms is making me doubt myself even more
