Just need to vent. I got engaged in September, and I asked my best friend P to be my bridesmaid and my friend A to be a "bridesman", and my sister is going to be my chief bridesmaid.
I rang another friend, G, who I was also very close with in school but drifted apart from when she got into drugs and heavy drinking in college and uni and we've never really fixed things properly since she slowed things down. She got all excited, congratulated me and assumed she was going to be a bridesmaid. I wasn't quite sure what to say, but went along with it and figured it'd be nice for old times sake. I was glad I had to begin with, since she was so excited for me and was really involved with talking to me about what I'm having for my dress, colour scheme etc etc.
A little while ago she was talking to me about her BF, L, and how she'd decided to dump him (again) since they were arguing a lot, especially about sex (they weren't having any since she lost interest totally in him). Next phonecall, she tells me she has dumped him. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and "L is really upset he's not going to see me as a bridesmaid, please can he come to the wedding?" She tried to pretend she hadn't dumped him, then admitted she had, but they're back together now. She then spent the next 20 minutes arguing with me that we should invite L to the wedding, despite the fact no dates of anyone are invited, only SO's. She's now said she isn't coming to the reception because of this. I demoted her. I'm just sad that having her on-again-off-again, I'm-going-to-dump-him-because-he's-crap-in-bed boyfriend at the wedding is more important to her than standing up for me at my wedding.
