Offer of swine flu jab

Its always a toughy and is absolutely a personal choice. I had it in november last year when we were TTC at the time. I am a teacher and asthmatic and we had had the virus in the school. I will have it this year and the reg flu jab but am trying to wait until end of October when I am out of the first tri.

I dont think its out till October in my neck of the woods anyhow as I asked my doc about it last week and he said OOOO its a bit early for that now.

awwww yeah, I always hoped so, its my asthma which puts me at such a high risk as have been hospitalized with it with bad flus before that and I work with germy lil kids who dont understand the importance of washing their hands or covering their lil faces when they sneeze or cough. No matter how much you remind them XD Bless!

When I went to see the midwife she gave me the consent form for the vaccine but I won't be getting it. I just don't want to risk anything at all and I have never had a flu vaccine before in my life so im not going to start getting them now. Like you say, there does not seem to be that much information out there on how safe it is which in my opinion is a big reason not to get it.

Thats just my opinion though, in the end we all have to do what we think is best for our babies.

I do think that if you do decide to get it it's best to wait until the second trimester... Our immune systems are still pretty operational in the beginning anyways....

Also, ensure that you are given the non-adjuvanted version as that is the version reecommended in pregnant people and as far as I know the all the studies conducted on pregnant women thus far (albeit limited to short term effects) are based on women taking the non-adjuvanted version.
