Hey all! I'm new here, So I figured I would jump into the mix! I've been enjoying reading the threads, and I'm excited to be going on this journey with so many others who are also TTC :)

This past week has been very eye-opening for my DH and I! My AF was supposed to arrive last week Monday (2/23), and I have always been very regular with my cycle. I was thinking all week that maybe I was pregnant, since AF never came. I told myself that I would take a HPT on Friday if AF still hadn't come. On Thursday, I started light cramping and light brown spotting, just in the morning. Same symptoms on Friday. Researched symptoms and read about implantation bleeding, and how that sometimes causes confusion as it happens around the time your period would start. Took HPT on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, both bfn. Sure enough Saturday mid morning AF came in full force! I'm pretty sure I got way into my head screwed up my cycle, but also I'm thinking that maybe since February is a short month my cycle somehow got off course. I'm sure it didn't help that I attended a baby shower last Sunday as well!!

My question now is, do I count CD1 as Saturday when AF came at full force, or as Thursday when I started spotting? I guess I should wait and see when AF is completely gone and then calculate the CD...? My DH and I haven't entirely been 100% TTC, but after the excitement of this past week, we definitely feel ready and willing to give it a go! Yesterday I purchased the Wondfo ovulation and pregnancy tests on amazon and they should be delivered tomorrow!

So here's to baby making ! Good luck to ya'll :)

Most sources say CD1 is the first day of normal AF flow, but I'm not sure if you want to back that up to Friday because of how long it took to go from spotting to flow. *shrugs* 1 day won't mess you up too much.

If you think you're likely to have a normal luteal phase, choose your CD1 (be it Friday or Saturday), figure out when your next AF is due, count back 14 days from that, give yourself a +/- 1 day window, and those 3 days are when you should expect ovulation. Your most fertile window is 5-6 days before that and up to 1 full day after O.

Are you planning to track your cycle at all? I go by BBT, CM & CP, and I pin-point my ovulation ever time :) I'm in my 4th cycle TTC right now, but I'm counting the first as a write-off because I was right off BCP and my luteal phase temps were all over the place.

Good luck!

I would go with Saturday being cd1. The brown spotting is just old blood, so it doesn't have anything to do with the shedding of your current uterine wall. Also just a tip on the opks, test in the afternoon. I know that the box may say fmu, but I have seen a lot of ladies miss their surge and I have missed mine as well. I start a hold with no liquids on cd 10 at 11 am, then then test at 2 pm. GL!!

Thanks girls :) I will be starting to track my BBT and using the opks. I have read many posts about using the opks in the afternnoon so I will plan on doing that !! Good luck to the both of you as well !

I am definitely in the same boat as you! We thought I might have been pregnant because I was a couple days late and AF was very strange compared to how it normally is for me. Ended up just being one of those weird cycles with nothing wrong - probably stress honestly. Ever since we've been talking non-stop about wanting a baby, so officially decided to really start trying this cycle..

I just started charting my temps and using the Wondfo OPK's starting on CD10 (2x a day as I'm paranoid about missing it!) and they seem to be working well for me. I'm now on CD15, got my first positive CD13 that night. I hope they do you some good as well!!
Good luck on this crazy journey of baby makin' :D

Hey! Welcome :)

I have this issue too. Most months I spot for 2-3 days before I get AF properly so then I never know what counts as CD1 but a lot of ladies on here have said CD1 counts as the first day of full flow :)

I would count the day you were in full force as AF. I also suggest using ovulation prediction kits if you are able to afford them, as they can be pricy. My doctor is adamant that I use them every cycle.
