Anyone else have a really itchy scalp? I've checked for nits, haven't changed shampoo/conditioner or anything, but it's driving my nuts. It's been like this for just the past few days. Is it one of those crazy pregnancy things?? Thanks!

i know my scalp gets itchy when im really tired maybe if your tired from being pregnant thats whats happening

This may have nothing to do with what you have but...I started with an itchy scalp awhile ago (like, couldn't, stop, itching!) and it turned out that I had hives all over my head! If it doesn't get worse then I would chalk it up to pregnancy hormones which can cause itching. Although it's hard to hydrate your head, I started using baby oil everywhere else (after I take a shower, once a day) and my itching has reduced dramatically.

Ooh these are interesting suggestions, ty! I guess I'll try early nights and baby oil and hope it helps :D Thanks, ladies :)

I've had dandruff since shortly after getting my bfp and still do. I have to assume its a pregnancy thing.

oh goodness maybe this is a symptom for me! ive notice since this past month ive been scracthin my scalp like a dog with fleas... ive always had itchy scalp problems but its increased greatly recently ... still waiting for my bfp but you just gave me another symptom to obsess over lol

Yes mine has been itchy too! I sort of guessed that maybe it has something to do with hair growing faster due the pre-natal vitamins.

I'm 4 days late and my scalp has been so itchy I woke up OH last night scratching like crazy.. I also checked for lice and found none.. I have suffered with dandruff since having my last baby and I had this intense itchy scalp after giving birth too.. I'm 4 day's late for my period and wondering if you were pregnant? xx

Yep scratching like a ape with fleas is another glorious pregnancy side effect no one saw fit to warn about.
Its to do with hormone changes so some will get oily skin and scalps while others get dry patchy skin.
Hives, itchy skin, patches of darken skin are all common.
Be warned later on your stomach will start iching as well and it will drive you nuts while out in public :)
Aquas cream helps

I JUST posted about this on another board last week! I had to go to the doctors to see what was up. My head was SO itchy and my legs too! I was scratching myself raw in my sleep! Turns out my scalp is really red and full of hives. My doctor said there wasn't much that can be done. To try to shampoo only a few times a week and use nice cool/cold water on your head when showering!

I too have acquired dandruff since my BFP. The hormones have dried out my skin and my scalp. I am going to try using a dandruff shampoo. I think that helps to retain moisture and to get rid of the flakes. Ah, the joys of pregnancy!

Mine may be more down to stress if its hives :/ i will test today and find out :) thank you for answering my question xxx

I thought I was alone!!!! I asked my mum if she had this when having me she said yea I always had ur dad checking me for head lice.

I don't have headlice but I always need a good scratch especially at night and first thing :( its horrible

mine is mainly at night or in the morning when I wake up too!! I am going to test today xx

This happened to me too...early on around 7 weeks. Although, my dermatologist seems to believe I had a bad reaction to a uti antibiotic. Not fun! I really feel for you and hope you can get rid of it soon. Feeling like your whole scalp is on fire because it's SO itchy is really lousy.:hugs:

i had an incredibly itchy scalp from pretty much the day of conception! it got worse as i got into 2nd trimester, and rather than dandruff it was kind of larger patchy flakes and it was soooo hard not to itch and itch and itch - which of course just made it worse and i then had hair full of skin, yuk.

I tried T-Gel shampoos - didn't help a bit. BUT I use No Scent Shampoo & Conditioner by Green People and that has really really helped a lot - no chemicals and rubbish that can irritate your skin at the best of times anyway. it is a bit pricier, but a little goes a long way so it lasts ages........

it hasn't settled fully yet - it stayed pretty bad throughout breastfeeding, which i did til my daughter was nearly 2 and a half (6 months ago), so have my fingers crossed for it to calm down more as all those hormones really go back to "normal".....

Its hormones, I never had any dry scalp and in my last pregnancy it was awful, baby is 11 mths now and It's still the same, I am embarrassed to got to the hairdressers, I was thinking it'll clear once my hormones have dropped but then I got pregnant again and the itching has started
