Hi,
I was looking online a while ago and found a thread on a different forum (think it was babycentre) about the sound of baby's heartbeat relating to gender....
I was just wondering if anyone has found this to be true!
I know it's only an old wives tale but it's interesting to see what others have experienced!

Anyway when you're having a boy the heartbeat is supposed to sound more like a chugging train and if you're having a girl the baby's heartbeat is supposed to sound more like a galloping horse!

I'm pretty sure I remember my little boy's heartbeat sounding like the train and this time it definitely sounds more like a galloping horse, so I'm just wondering if anyone has found any truth in this!!!

I've got my 20wk scan next week, so I'll find out then whether this baby is indeed a girl (as the sound of the heartbeat would suggest)....

With my DD her hb sounded like a galloping horse. Her hb was always up over 140 (another old wives tale that 140+ is girl and below is boy). I'm assuming that refers to hb later when it has slowed.

this time my DH says hb sounds like a train, different to my DD. I suppose we'll c at 20 week scan... still 5 weeks off xx

Never heard of this, but it was right for DD, and now heartbeat for my little mister is more like a train, so correct for him too!!

My baby's hb was around 140 when i checked, but i had to count myself as my doppler doesn't display heartrate. Not sure what my son's heartrate was though....

I asked my MW if she could tell the gender from the heartbeat (obviously not accurate, just for a bit of fun lol) she said the same thing...& I said well did it sound like a horse or train? And she said exactly! So I dont have a clue! Wish I'd asked her before we listened to the heartbeat! I wanna hear a horse or train lol x

My sons sounds like a galloping horse and his hb has been 140+

The Chinese gender things were wrong too (except for one) the rest said girl so I was convinced by that and everyone saying they felt girl that he was a girl what a shocker to find he's all boy :) but love my little man to bits

Never heard of that one!? I monitor fetal heart rates at work and they all sound like galloping horses. In fact we have to find that specific sound cause it is the actual heart sound. The more swishy train sound is heard when the monitor is not directly over heart. Just my experience. ..

Ohhhh me sounds like a train.. Can't wait to see now...who am i kidding I couldn't wait before reading this....!!

mine has always sounded like a train and were having a boy....

...however if i tilted my doppler a different angle it sounded like a horse!

xx

Our little girls hb sounds like a galloping horse! & is always 140-160 x

I have had horses my whole life and have two currently - I'm also having a girl and I'm sorry but these heartbeats sound nothing like a horse lol
