I'm pregnant with my 3rd girl and all 3 of their heartbeats were always over 150. Good luck 
Old wives tale on heartbeat?

As everyone else has said, it's not always true!
However, old wives tales were 100% true with my son. I am hoping its the same with this one because that would mean its a girl
My sons heart beat was in the 120's during pregnancy. This one is in the 180s!!
When I took the gender prediction quizzes and Chinese gender chart with my son, they all came up boy!! Every last one! This time, it's the complete opposite and they all come up girl (besides the way I am carrying. That has to do more with your body) ^_^ So excited to find out the gender!!

I have always heard over 150 is a girl, and under is a boy. It's actually been true for my mom and me. My heartbeat was in the 160's and my brothers was in the 130's. My son's heartbeat was in the 140's and so far my daughter's has been holding around 163! (just found out it was a girl earlier this week!)

I also carried each of my girls exactly the same. Nice and high, people were like your not close to having your baby you haven't dropped yet she was born the next day.

That's funny. I never felt my son "drop"--he was always so low. I was induced 5 days before my due date, so I don't know if he never did or what, but he came pretty easily through the induction process. Biggest problem we had was that he was faced the wrong direction, but no one seemed to think this was a big deal.

I think the old wives tale is based on metabolism. Females usually have a higher metabolism than males which can cause their heartbeat to be higher. Like everything else tho, its not 100% and every baby is different.
For me, she started out at around 155 then jumped to 177. At around 17/18 weeks she went back down to around 138-142 and is hovering there unless I am nervous lol.

My baby's HB has been high since I first heard it. at 12 weeks it was 170 then its been in the 150's since the only time his hb was low was at the 20 weeks scan when we found out it was a boy. I just had a 24 week appointment today and his HB was back up to 150 something.
