Old wives tales & gender...

For me old wives tales are just made up, the majority of things arn't true and any that do seem to match the old wives tales are just conicendence.
what could old wives tales possibly be based on? lol

For example if you have sickness it a girl...meaning that everyone that is expecting a boy wont have any sickness and everyone else having a girl will?

if your having a girl you'll crave sweet if salty its a boy again everyone having a girl will crave the same thing and everyone having a boy will crave the same thing? so what if you didnt crave anything?

All women/pregnancies/babies are different and it really doesnt have anything to do with gender.

Heres how all my pregnancies were different & genders...

My first is a GIRL...had sickness from 4-5weeks pregnant till the birth,
was anemic and would faint on a regular basis,
craved the smell of bleech but no foods/drinks,
put on 3stone,
carried to the front and up high,

Second is a GIRL...

Had sickness till 10weeks wasnt that bad,
felt really healthy through pregnancy,
put on 1.5stone,
craved cornflakes, watermelon & oranges
carried to the front & up high

Third is BOY...
had bad sickness from 7weeks till now,
been suffering sickness, headaches, faintness and spd,
lost 11lbs and gained 7lbs of that back,
no cravings in particular just what i fancy at the time,
carrying to the front and lower so far

any questions feel free to ask.
so your thoughts on old wives tales?

Imo...Nonsence ! lol i have had 3 pregnancies and all been different, the biggest difference was between my first & second pregnancies which are both girls so there you go

I crave sweeeeeeet!!!! I was sick .... And I'm having a boy! Not a girl

Obviously NONE have been proven, scientifically. But I think to most it's just a fun thing That's all it is for me, at least!!

I've kind of wondered about this, I don't know what I'm having but I heard if you have bad skin during pregnancy it can mean a girl. I have had AWFUL skin since the day I found out I was pregnant and so did 2 of my good friends who had girls.

Apparently it can have to do with getting a double dose of female hormones cos you're carrying a girl, where as if it's a boy the testosterone will balance things out better.

Of course this could definitely be nonsense as well, I would just love a little girl so am looking for any signs

with this boy

hyperemesis (way sicker than with DD, i had a fear to even eat anything, lost 18 lbs and had 3 hospital stays bc of dehydration and starvation) stopped at 21/22 weeks
HB in 130s
hips didnt change/cant tell from the back i am preggos (yet)
gained 10 lbs, all belly and boobs
craving sweets (wives tale says i should crave meat)
had tons of girl dreams

Don't believe them.
I haven't been sick at all. Not even once and my babies heart beat is 138bpm. According to wives tales that's the heartbeat of a boy.
Had our anatomy scan last week and we are having a girl!

half the gender tests say I'm having a boy and half of the tests say girl, I think they are about as accurate as throwing out a random 50/50 guess

You know i can't remember the heartrates with my girls something tells me it was above 150bpm though.

I've herd hb at 15,18,22,23,26 weeks
was told at 18weeks it was 150bpm,
at 22weeks it was 134bpm
and 26 weeks 140bpm

I've herd from middle of your pregnancy (20 weeks) it settles lower than what it was when it was higher x

I think those tales are fun to use while predicting bub's gender, but not really something to go on.
I know a girl who swears by them, and is 100% she's having a girl because of the HB tale of if high is a girl, and low a boy... Well I didn't have the heart to tell her it was the opposite for us.

I haven't had any previous pregnancies to compare with,. and i'm team yellow so, so far I can't tell! I do think I am having a boy though, just a gut feeling!

I also heard that if you are prone to fainting in pregnancy this is a sign you are having a girl! lol and what's the thing about the wedding ring on a string? I haven't tried any of these but I prob will just for fun! My chinese gender thing predicts Boy! xx

That's the only bad thing about not knowing, i'm desperate to buy!!! But other than that I am REALLY glad i didn't find out the sex - can't wait for the surprise!

Aww I think it is lovely to have a surprise, just don't think I could hold out to be honest! haha! Our main reason for finding out is to decorate the nursery in pink or blue, and then of course the cute outfits hehe!

I don't think I would have the patience to wait until the birth, hats off to you though because I bet it will be amazing finding out on the day!

I think giving birth will be the most amazing thing ever, weather you know or not! Like i said i was planning to find out, and i HATED it because peopl kept saying to me 'you won't have anything to look forward to when you are in labour'.... EM HELLO??? i'm having a baby!!! haha

I would have liked to be able to have a pink or blue nursery... but we painted our nursery yesterday and i think i'm going to love it when it's finished! it's cream and browny colours and i've already bought all my bedding can't wait for it all to be in the nursery! xx

Now normally my sensible head would say "load of old rubbish"!! and it probably did until this pregnancy that is

I have had 2 girls, both pregnancies were carbon copies of each other, from when MS started and finished, what time of night a was sick, cravings, food aversions, feelings, weigh gain , the LOT!

This time...... I'm carrying a boy and it is SOOOOO very different!

Was only really properly sick 3 times, food aversions were the total opposite than with the girls, craving all things meat... gimme steak!!

I've gained very little weight and it's all on my belly this time!

girls pregnancies- I glowed and had gorgeous thick shiny hair, this time NOT! Dry hair and skin

Tiredness is unbearable this time, where i had loads of evergy last 2 times!

Honestly the list could go on forever, but total opposites, whether it's to do with gender I dunno, but it seems pretty suss to me!!!!
