old wives tales??

What are your thoughts on old wives tales for gender prediction? And your experiences?
I'm 12 weeks and bought a Doppler, baby's heart rate is below 140 bpm, which by old wives tales would suggest a boy
What do you think?

My doc seems to think there is some truth to it, however later in the 3rd trimester she says.... my DD @ 12 weeks had a rate of 122BPM which suggest a boy but was false....

I think it could go either way, I jus. Bought my Doppler today, so I've been having fun using it, it gives different readings everyttime. One minute il hear a slow hr then a really fast hr if I move it a bit, so sometime around 110bpm then . Moved it a bit and got 182bpm
