Is it too like Olivia? I mean obviously it's very similar but do the two sound interchangeable? I just don't really like Olivia and don't want it to sound like the same name (I know, I know). What do you think of when you see it?

Depends on your accent/where you're from. I've heard it pronounced Ola-VEE by some French people, while I've had apparent 'experts' in French pronunciation (on Nameberry) tell me that that's wrong , but it's how I'd pronounce it.

This is how I would pronounce it too - although I would be unsure if I was correct. On 1st impression, I would assume it was a boy's name.

At first look, I'd read and pronounce it as "O-liv-e-ay" as 'é' is pronounced with an "ay" sound. The "uh" sound in Olivia is used with an 'ə'.

Personally, I find it as somebody is trying too hard to change a name with something not so original. Accented names in English don't do it for me.

Agree with this. I thought it was Olivier (sorry can't find out how to do the acute accent on my keyboard!) just missing the r, so immediately thought of it as a misspelt boys name.

you could just use Olivie without the accent as it probably wouldnt get used anyway and as 'ie' = 'y' sound I dont see how it could be pronounced wrong (im not good with accent sounds though)

I prefer it like that but other spellings could be:

Olivey (looks a bit nickname-y)
Olivvy
Olivee
Oliveigh

but they are more likely to be misspelled

I'm not trying to change a name, Olivié is very much a name in its own right. Like Amelie is not someone trying to change Amelia, it's a different name altogether.
