On way to miscarriage number 6... need positive stories to keep trying.

Hi all..

I'm 30.. dh is 32.. we are currently on way for our 6th miscarriage.. 4 miscarriages... 1 ectopic and 2 missed miscarriages. Had a scan last Friday 6w2d. sac measured 5mm no yolk.. hcg Fri 3790 hcg Sunday 4900 so not doubling and no rise of 60%. Got another scan Friday but this is how my mmc started. I am looking for stories of ladies who had no children but constant mc and ended up with a baby. My husband wants us to stop as he's fed up of seeing the pain I go through emotionally but I feel like if we don't continue to try we will never have a baby. I am currently on progesterone, clexane and predinsolone.. last mmc and this one the clexane was introduced and we went the furthest (9weeks last time) as I normally naturally 2nd at 5/6weeks on progesterone.

So sorry to hear this cathgibbs Personally I've only had two miscarriages (no live babies yet) but my mother had six! So there is some concrete proof that even after such bad luck you can still go on to have a healthy baby.

Have you had any tests done to see if there's a reason you've had so many miscarriages? There could be something hormonal or physical going on. They never determined the cause in my mother's case (back in the 80s) but I suspect there might be a hormonal issue. I'm going to have some tests once my current miscarriage is complete and then hopefully will be able to be treated for next time and have a healthy baby!

First I just want to say sorry for your losses, they are never easy.

I honestly don't have a success story like you are looking for but I have suffered a couple mmcs and a blight ovum. It can be a lonely road especially if your willing to keep going when your partner is ready to throw in the towel.

I just wanted to stop by and say please be kind to yourself, heal and maybe talk to your husband and explain how important continuing the journey is to you, sometimes men don't understand how much we are willing to sacrifice for our rainbows.

Thank you ladies.

I have had all the testing available on the NHS and have recently had NK testing with Professor Quenby which found my NK llevels to be normal.

My hcg on Friday was 7700... rising 1 thousand every 48 hours and on Sunday it rose to 12788 so the hospital said the results look promising so my D&C was cancelled for this week.. bloods on Tuesday showed my level had dropped by a thousand. Have a scan booked for Friday then arrange a D&C for next week which they will then do some genetic testing on the tissue. My husband is now coming around to the idea of trying again. He said he doesn't like seeing me going through it all the time but as harsh as it sounds... I'm only upset for a day. I think I'm getting so used to bad news that it doesn't effect me as much?? I just want this D&C over with to try again... surely I should be successful one time?? X

I had 6 miscarriages, followed by a 27w neo natal loss followed by my beautiful rainbow boy who is now 2.

Maybe you could see Mr Shehata, he tests nk cells via blood and prescribes a higher dose of steroids from ovulation.

I miscarried on Prof Q treatment plan but was successful on Mr Shehata treatment plan

I had 3 miscarriages and one chemical and now over half way through my pregnancy with hopefully a second baby. They never found a reason for my losses apart from elevated NK cells (but I didn't have any treatment) and high DNA fragmentation for my OH. Has your OH been tested for fragmentation? Apparently something like half of recurrent miscarriages are to do with the man.

I'm so so sorry for what your going through. I'm crossing my fingers for you I really am. We had 16 miscarriges over 7 years while trying for our second ranging from 5 weeks to 19 weeks. I was finally diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder and then went on to have our rainbow dd, and a beautiful boy 14 months later. We decided we would like another but that didn't go smoothly and took two more losses and the loss of this little lady's twin but we are now 20weeks. I know it's hard but stay strong. If you need anyone to talk to I'm here.

Thank you ladies. You are all very kind and thank you for your input �� the D&C took 2 hours as I lost a lot of blood but 2 weeks on I'm feeling ok apart from a slight infection. Work has offered me counselling which I'm taking as I'm starting to find it really hard and don't want to talk to dh about it as my mil is currently battling breast cancer so he has so much going on.

Can I ask how much NK testing with Dr Sehata was?

We are awaiting the results from the testing which should be back in 4 weeks so hopefully find some answers and considering paying for karotyping testing.. I don't know what testing is left. Promising to hear of your stories but heart breaking to know we have to suffer so many losses first xxxz

I got the karotyping on the NHS after my 5th loss, the cocked up my d&c and couldn't test the foetus so offered me karotyping instead. Probably cos they felt so bad.

You can see Mr Shehata on the NHS for nk cell testing so no cost involved, I would get a referral in asap because his appointments are now booking into march.

I can't believe your d&c took 2 hours, it's a 15m procedure . Xx

We had four early losses before our two year old was born. I didn't have the NK cell testing but had the other NHS tests (and a few others like homocysteine) and everything came back negative. I had acupuncture and went on the Response trial in the UK testing a new G-CSF medication. No idea whether I got the active drug or placebo, something worked although it felt like it would never happen. It's heartbreaking to go through multiple losses. Hope you get your rainbow soon x
