One thing after another... I just want to feed my baby.

Hi Ladies...
As the title says, it seems to be one thing after another with trying to feed my little girl.
She is absolutely fantastic, feeds every 2 hours and latches on perfectly. But, when she was born, she took the skin off the tips of my nipples. She's now 11 days old, and I have mastitis AND thrush in my breasts, and she has thrush in her mouth and on her bum. I was treated for thrush first (with a tablet and canesten), and LO has medicine for her mouth. When the pain in my breats didn't get better, and I got flu symptoms and redness, I was given antibiotics for mastitis. But now the antibiotics have made the thrush worse.
I don't know what I can do anymore
Any advice would be great.

Poor you. It's a nasty vicious circle when antibiotics cause evenmore problems. The only advice I can offer is to go back to the docs for even more medication. Hang in there, it does honestly get easier.

Have you tried shields to try to stop her getting reinfected with thrush until it's cleared up? Hopefully when you've finished your course of antibiotics things will start to look up. Hang in there!

Antibiotics will make thrush worse. I am so sorry to hear - what a horrible, horrible cycle. It sounds like you really need a breakthrough!

Thankfully now the mastitis seems to be getting better *touch wood* - the redness and flu symptoms have gone

The thrush in her mouth is still pretty bad, but she's still sucking ok and taking her medicine. She's put weight on again too (thankfully).

Yesterday she fed nearly ALL day, so must have had a growth spurt.. I'm coping much better today. Hopefully it'll stay like this and i'll not get any more infections! I'm shattered with the on-demand feeding, but as long as she's putting on weight then it's worth it.

Your doing so well keeping it all up. Like the other girls have said it does get easier I promise! Hopefully the infection will be gone soon and you can treat the thrush properly xx
