Hi guys...

Would just like a little advice plz.. Been ttc 2 yrs with no luck I have had an ectopic on 2003 which resulted in my right tube and also a mc in 2005. In the last couple of years i have had irregular cycles ranging from 28 to 76 days !! I had an internal scan after having abdominal pain which shown i have cysts on my left ovary but 21 day bloods taken on day 23 of a 39 day cycle suggested i was ovulating. I am currently suffering with hair loss, occasional midcycle bleeding and have always struggled with my weight. I am have my first app with fs at Jessops Sheffield and wondered what will happen and what if any treatment will i be offered? Forgot to mention my oh has had SA and its perfect! Thanks in advance fro any advice.. Katie xx

Hi there,
I didn't want to read and run. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20's. I'm now 35 and after 5 years of trying we finally conceived - naturally. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant!
I wanted to give you a little hope; I too suffered a m/c in 2009 and even though we were crushed, I just took the sign that we could conceive naturally and started again.
You state all the symptoms I have and even though you've only got one tube I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
The only thing I did differently in the months leading up to my blessed BFP was to radically change my diet to high protein/ low carbs. I lost about 10lb (which didn't really do much overall if you know what I mean!) But I think this helped me ovulate.
PCOS is all about insulin resistance and the less sugar or carbs that goes in, the better.
I don't know what FS is short for, but my first guess is they'll give you metformin and or clomid to help you regulate and ovulate.

All the best and good luck X

Thanks for your reply. I recently joined a different fertility forum but never got a reply so thanks. Congrats on ur bfp, thats fab news! Like u said it gives others hope as its all too easy to get down and have the 'it'll never be me thoughts'! I'm just worried because my gp said i was most probably sub-pcos which i take means kinda hit n miss and after having a 76 day cycle last month and now it seems i'm havin a 28 dayer it seems maybe he's right so i guess i'm worried i wont be prescribed meds. I'm also hoping that i'll be referred for a HSG seeing as i have only one tube! My bmi is 30.5 so not massively over weight but still trying to get it down. Anyway hope ur having a lovely pregnancy and all the best to you :) x

Hi Katie-

I was just diagnosed w/pcos last week. Similar to you- BMI about 29-31, & I also lost my right tube to an ectopic (about a year ago). Been ttc for about 3.5 years. Finally got pregnant at the end of last summer, but it was ectopic... :(

I'm very new to this pcos stuff- no previous blood tests showed anything of the sort until my bloodwork a few weeks ago, which she says now shows pcos... But I guess it explains a lot - the wacky unpredictable cycles, low progesterone, battles w/weight, etc...

I've seen a fertility specialist once before (a few months before the ectopic last year). He had a consultation with me, did bloodwork, transvaginal ultrasound, & had me go for an hsg test (which showed clear tubes... which doesn't explain why I had an ectopic in the right one a few months thereafter). His diagnosis: ovulation disorder (but he didn't say pcos). He said I would be a good candidate for injections, which we were going to start last fall, but I got pregnant naturally the cycle before we were ready to get started.

My ob wants to start me on clomid again (did it 6x about 2 years ago, and I only ovulated 1 of those times). Hope this next round will work for me.

Hoping something positive will be in store for both of us soon!
