One week old - heavier bleeding

Hi,

My baby's 8 days old today and today and yesterday I've noticed I've been bleeding heavier... anyone else had this or know what it could be?? Or should I just call the midwife?

My doctor told me that if you are breastfeeding, the flow of the bleeding will fluctuate. But, if you are concerned, call your midwife. It never hurts to ask the question!

We're you more active the day or day before you noticed more blood? I was told that increased lochia or the return of bright red blood is an indication that you're doing too much too soon. That correlation has been correct for me. Though lochia does tend to fluctuate as well. Mine had so many stops and starts and various colours this time. I think the general rule is that you're fine unless you're bleeding so much you're soaking through a pad in less than an hour.

Oh OK well I'm definitely not soaking through a pad even in over an hour so that's good..

I did go out shopping on Monday Definitely bit off more than I could chew. Was in quite a bit of pain afterwards so it's probably that!
