Only Sac at 5 week ultrasound??

Ok so this past Monday I had a dating scan.. well according to my LMP I would have been almost 8 weeks but my periods are really weird and I was actually only 5 weeks, 4 days.
My doctor said she wasn't sure if it was a viable pregnancy because she only saw the sack I was so upset!! So she sent me to have my HCG levels checked and than rechecked yesterday.. she said they increased significantly and everything seemed all right there. I'm scheduled for another ultrasound on the 28th..
My question is what's normal to see on a 5 week scan? Has this happened to anyone else? I haven't had any bleeding or cramping and I definitely feel pregnant, Help!

You should only see a sac, maybe yolk at 5 weeks hun. You wont see a HB until you are 6+ weeks. Good luck

That's totally normal for 5 weeks. I had a scan at 5w4d and all they saw was a sac. Had another scan two weeks later and saw a teeny baby with a heartbeat. I'm sure everything is just great with your beanie.

Im not sure about 5 weeks but at just 6 weeks exactly we saw the sac and yolk but still no heartbeat, it made me worry terribly for the next week but we went back at 7 weeks 3 days and the heartbeat was there strong and healthy, its crazy how much difference a week can make. Its probably just too early if your levels are going up you should be fine.

Girl don't worry at almost 6 wks they only saw the sac i came back two weeks later and saw my june bug and heart beat just relax and don't stress. Good luck

omg this is EXACTLY what has happened to me!! I went again for a follow up scan today and today they found a yolk inside the sack but since there is nothing to measure I dont have a due date but here is my scan from today...
btw I know this situation is scary but its so nice to have someone to relate to
p.s. the weaker machine didnt pick up the yolk they had to move me rooms to a higher powered machine to see it

I conceived on the pill and so I had a dating scan to check how far along I was. They only saw a sac. Three days later they did a follow up scan and saw the gestational sac had grown and now had a yolk sac inside. They calculated me to be 5 weeks and 5 days at the second scan, so that means I was 5 weeks and 2 days when they only saw the gestational sac. All this was done with a very sensitive transvaginal scanner. It's very normal, so please don't worry!

I'm now nearly 28 weeks and all is going well.

Same thing happened to me. I went in to my 8 week scan and all they saw was a sac and told me I was right under 6 weeks or the pregnancy was not progessing. They moved my due date by about 3 weeks!! I freaked out. Had to wait 10 days to see if things had moved along. It was a very difficult 10 days for both of us because we knew when my last period was and thought we knew when we conceived. At the next scan, they saw the baby and the heatbeat and actually moved my due date up a little bit which was nice.

i had a scan at 7 weeks and they didn't even see a sac,toldme there was no baby and everything and 2 weeks later ready for DC and there baby was at 9 weeks. 5 weeks and just a sac is perfectly normal, don't thinkmost people see must else at that stage....only a few babies who aren't camera shy i guess-lol.

think my baby was buried in deep!!
