I've put 3 names out there for our baby girl, and everyone around me has had no problem telling me how much they dislike the names.

I finally settled on a name I love, but I'm not telling anyone because I don't want to hear them bitch!

How rude of people! It's my baby! Anyone else have opinionated family/friends like that?

Yes mine are. But if you out it out there, you'll get comments :) so if you're bothered as most ppl woul be def keep it a secret!!

Everyone has an opinion about everything!

Our list is
Sienna- my husbands nan says it reminds her of a constipation tablet 'senna'

Mila- my auntie said it reminds her if a hot drink similar to ovaltine

Eden- my grandma is adamant it's a boys name

Should have kept my mouth shut!

how is Eden a boys name lol

LOL, she'd be truly horrified to discover that Milo (the actual name of the drink) is an increasingly common boy's name. I think it's cute, the fact that it's also a word for a cup of malted chocolate milk really wouldn't bother me. Mila is gorgeous.

Fortunately my friends and family are all really polite; either that or they are (rightfully) too terrified of me to disagree.

I would keep my mouth shut, then when people see the bundle they will just be so thrilled!!

My brother has 3 boys, all with interesting names. When they were pregnant and told us we thought they were mad! (they did have Jesus and Moses as options tho), now I can't imagine those boys being called anything else.

I had it all with my last baby, really upset me, my first little girl i wanted a really girly name, i chose Avaleigh (pronounced ava-lee) because i love the name ava but i dont like short names lol, so many people were so rude about it telling me it was awful etc i still named her Avaleigh because i like it and thats all that matters, i even had my OHs ex telling me she didnt like the name and i should change my mind and would i like the list of names her and my OH had when they were having a baby!!! Wtf lol

I'm keeping my boys name a secret because everyone has something bad to say so I've told everyone I'm calling them Norman and Morris... Think people are to shocked to question me was the same with my daughter she was zsa-zsa. Tell them you've picked an out there name then anything you do pick will be easier to swallow.

Just try not to listen to them!

I adore the name Sybil yet my family says it makes them think of a cat. It does upset me but if I do have a little girl I'll still seriously be considering it because it's a name which I feel strongly about.

O agree with the above suggestions, either pick a really out there name which your family will be shocked at or just keep it a secret, saying you've not really picked one yet.

Good luck!!!

naming a baby 101 - never tell people your name choices before the baby is actually here!

 I've been telling people at work that if we have a boy we're calling him Gengis :D

Since DH is named Beau, I've started telling people will will name the baby Rainbeau.

I did tell my sister once what we were considering for a boy name, and she now refers to the baby as that all the time. We continue to mostly call it by its pre-conception/theoretical future baby nickname, which is Porkchop.

If it makes you feel any better, MIL said the middle name we picked for a girl sounded like a porn star, lol.

In all fairness, the name was Jessica Everlong. "Everlong" was our wedding song and we just love it, but I can see where she was coming from, lol. So, we changed the name.

To Ainsley Everlong. Lol. We decided that Jessica was too tame for us and kept Everlong, so it sorta backfired on her, lol.

This lo seems to be a little man, though, so no porn star name use as of yet.

My in laws have done this twice to their daughter, bitched and moaned for months about both of her babies names. I learned my lesson and will not be telling anyone anything until it is born!

My SIL went with the names she loved despite her parents rudeness and of course they have nothing bad to say now as they love the babies more than anything. So stick with what you love!

i think we really open ourselves up to it by disclosing the names. I am not saying we ask for it. I think we just put it out there. When people dno't lie or find something positive to say we get our feelings hurt.

Its extremely bothersome when you dont want to say and people badger you into saying the names and then curl their noses up to it.

the only win, is we just say we haven't decided or we are leaving that as a surprise.

Everything regarding children just becomes too much of a touchy subject too often. Peoples faces are amazing when I say we arent saying the name, its like they turn it around to become insulted that we wouldn't tell them of all people.

I have a daughter Eden and she loves her name!

We are not telling anyone the baby name choices this time until we have told the baby what he or she is called. Our other children do not even know.

We had a few noses turn up when we announced our LOs name but after she was born, people just got over it and most said how much she suited her name. I don't know if I'd tell my name choices in the future because 1) a friend 'beat me' to a name I had told her I was considering 2) Peoples negativity re. our name choice 'nearly' put me off but I really couldn't think of anything I liked any more....SO stick with it is and ignore them, they will get over it!!
