disclimer: this is in no way an advrtisement.

So I've been thinking about starting a WAHM business for about a year now, and enough people have asked me if I sell my nappies that I've decided to stop thinking and start planning. I've decided to work towards opening on August 1, which should give me enough time to get my ducks in a row in the mean time and use tax return money in July to order most of what I need to get started.

The first thing I plan to do after registering my business name is get a logo designed so I can order labels etc. And thats where I'm stuck. I don't have $100s to spend on custom branding, but a logo is so important I don't really want to go cheap either. I've spent the last couple of days trawling Etsy and was going to try my luck with an inexpensive ($50ish) custom logo, but came across many premade ones I like. Maybe not perfect, but without spending a fortune on numerous revisions there's no guarantee I'd get the perfect logo from a custom job anyway. Especially given how indecisive I am

So what would you do?

PS I am open to PMs if you are or know a graphic designer you recommend, but I make no promises.

If you don't see anything pre made, could you ask a college student to do it for you as a part of their study/work experience and pay them a small token?
Xx

^^ this is a good idea, I am a graphic designer by trade (not any more though) and it was always good to get experience of live jobs while at college (and a little bonus is always welcome as a student :haha:). Otherwise maybe go for a cheap custom logo so you know it will be unique. I have my own business now but lucky enough to be able to do my own design which saves a lot of £££!

Good luck :flower:

Thats a good thought about the college student. Not sure how I'll find one but I'll look.

And there are several premade ones I like for less than $20, and some of the makers are even willing to change the colours for no fee. I'm just so indecisive :/

I imagine you could go through your local college which specialises in art and design and ask if they can put you in touch.

Choose something that instantly grabs you, because it should work on other people too.
Simple enough to print small and not lose the detail and be easily recognised.
Choose a colour/colours that you're happy to use throughout all of your stationary, website etc etc.

I am a designer and do this for a living so I'm biased that I think all logos should be individual. I'll be honest quite often you can tell when people have used pre made ones as you start to recognise them :(

However if you'd like to chat feel free to give me a pm :)
