I really only have one name that I've been thinking about but I have a lot of doubts with it. The name is Karalynn.. but I'm scared that it sounds just like Carolyn which is a name that I am not fond of. I thought about using it as 2 names (Kara Lynn) but then I don't seem to like it as much lol. I really wanted a 3 syllable name and I love the look of Karalynn spelled out but just really hate the fact that I think she would be called Carolyn which sounds old and ugly to me. I need some opinions and feedback please!! Right now it's between Karalynn Rose (and we would call her Kara probably for the most part) or Kara Lynn.

How about hyphenating it Kara-Lynn, then it's stop people mispronouncing it as Carolyn?? Ps: it's a very pretty name

My boyfriend suggested that but I've never actually known somebody with a hyphenated name before so I didn't know if that was a weird thing to do or not lol

It's funny - I have the same opinion of the name Carolyn as you... yet Karalynn strikes me as quite lovely! Yet they sound quite similar! Go figure!

I would hyphenate it to Kara-Lynn Rose in order to get the exact pronunciation you're going for (although to be honest, i'm not a huge fan of hyphenated names).

Additional suggestions:

Kaylana
Kayliana
Karabelle
Kerris/Carys

I know a fair few people who's little ones have hyphenated names Kara-Lynn is lovely x

I would go for Kara-Lynn or Kara Lynn. I actually like Kara Lynn more but then you risk the Lynn being phased out as a middle name. Karalynn sounds too much like Carolyn and when looking at it it looks like someone tried to name their daughter Carolyn but give it an original spelling. Kara-Lynn though sounds very pretty and I don't think it would be associated with Carolyn.

I currently have a coworker whose name is Cory-Lynn and she loves her name, goes by Cory all the time. I like Kara-Lynn, beautiful choice :)

When I first read it I did pronounce it sort of similar to Carolyn in my head. I agree with the idea of hyphenating it.

Thanks ladies! I'm gonna give the hyphen some thought. I'm just not sure how I feel about the hyphen..and maybe it's just strange to me cuz like i said I've never actually seen anybody with a hyphenated name so it's def different to me lol. I just don't want to give her a name that ends up being a pain in the butt because of one little dash..but I really want to make this name work it's the only one that's stuck with me lol. *sigh*

When she gets older she has the option of dropping the hyphen and just going by the name Kara. I know a lot of people with hyphenated names, never caused any issues for them xx
