Hi all :)

Confused!

I'm not sure when I ovulated this month. It's usually around day 20. I am more than sure I ovulated early this month around day 16 maybe.

On day 19 I took an OPK out of curiosity and had a very faint test line so I definitely wasn't due to O on day 20. The day after I took another and now day 21 the test line is definitely getting darker than the previous 2 days.

Can this happen randomly as I know each test can vary with darkness and also how diluted urine is etc.

I'm starting to think either

A- maybe I did O early and the OPK'S are showing HCG

B- The darkness of the lines shouldn't be accounted as they can vary from test to test

C - I diidn't actually ovulate when I thought I did and I'm going towards ovulation..

Like you said, the darkness of a test isn't really a reliable indication like it is with a pregnancy test. Do you not normally start taking tests from day 10 or so every day until you O? I found that was generally a better way so that you didn't miss. Have you noticed any EWCM? For me, I could have absolutely nothing on Monday then a completely dark, definite O line on Tuesday so I learned never to say I was there or nearly there until I got the definite line. Not much help I'm afraid, but didn't want to read and run. Maybe try testing earlier on and every day from not on until you get a definite positive so you know exactly where you are.

You will usually ovulate 12-36 hours after the darkest OPK is recorded. Unless you are temping though, you have no idea IF you actually ovulated. OPK's do NOT mean you O, just that the hormones are gearing up to help it happen. Best idea is to BD every other day or every day when you first get that dark OPK.
