I had a mirena coil put in yesterday and things are generally going well but I'm getting some shooting pains in my vagina (sorry tmi!) seems to be worse with some movement. Just wondering if this is normal and is it going to go?

Thanks

I dont remember shooting pains as such but plenty of cramping for about 3 days.

Same here lots of cramps but not shooting pains that I remember. If you're worried maybe ring nhs 24.

Thanks everyone the shooting element seems to have gone but I am still getting cramps but in my vagina where I expected to get them in tummy/back like period cramps. I'm wondering if it's just irritating my cervix a bit as sometimes I get the urge to push!!! Did you get this? Did it go away after a bit as your body got used to it being there?
thanks everyone.

I had pretty significant pain the night after placement (some shooting pains, but mostly bad cramping and pressure). Got better each day and by 3-4dys, it was gone.

Hopefully, by now, you are doing much better! :hugs:

Thank you it does seem to be settling down and now most of the time I've forgotten it's there, fingers crossed it stays like this!
