Hi everyone :hi:

Have brought this thread over from the toddler section for all the mummies who's babies have just turned 1 or are about to turn 1 (December 2009 or January 2010 babies) so that we can talk about our babies growing up to be toddlers and all the worries and concerns it brings.

Thought we could also share some fist brithday pics :happydance:

Can't wait to speak to you all  We def need a siggy :flower:

Just wanted to say hi. Will be back later! :flower:

:hi: :) Daisy is one next month, but not til 29th, I cant believe how much she has changed already *sob* x

So the questions I wanted to ask where:

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?

:flower:

Daisy has slept through since 3 months :happydance: we've had no sleep regression *thank god* and she has on average of 3 naps a day, averaging between 30 - 1 hour a time. She sleeps from 7-7/8 :)

Daisy has 2 bottles a day, about 7oz first thing then about 6oz at about 6pm, before tea, she changed her pattern but still fine with it :) Daisy eats anything and everything, her favourite bad food is skips, as soon as the packet rustles she gets excited :haha: and she loves spaghetti bolognaise :) She hates oranges and bananas...

We got Daisy's feet measured cause when we are out and she wants to go down shes usually barefooted, but she appears to have teeny size 1 feet that clarks dont do :dohh: so she'll have to stay barefooted for ages yet :haha:

x

Thanks hayley :flower: Daisy has really tiny feet and its so great she has been sleeping through since she was so young

Madi has only started sleeping through the night last week. Can't believe it and I'm not counting my chickens yet. She is sleeping 6.30/7 to about 8am :happydance: She has 1 nap during the day normally for about 1-2 hours.

Madi has a bottle in the morning when she gets up and one when she goes to bed. She seems to be no longer wanting the bottle in the morning though and just having her breakfast. Madi isn't too bad with food during the day but is quite fussy with dinners cause she wont let me feed her. She loves bananas, kiwi and grapes

I got Madi measured for shoes and she is a size 3G but they only have 2 styles in clarks and didn't have any left. (really didn't like them anyway) Think Madi will be shoeless for a while also.

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?
Sometimes. More likely not thoough. She usually wakes up once and sometimes twice but sometimes she sleep through till her 6 - 6.30 wake time and we get really excited! :haha: She takes two naps in the day. one around 9:30 and one around 2ish. :flower:

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?

Utterly confused about milk. I'm allergic to cows milk but she's had it in her formula but she has got eczema (like me) and luckily its not too bacd but have been thinking goats milk instead of cow as I'm not allergic to goats milk. (although it tastes horrible!) She likes and dislikes things on different day. She likes BLW most days but when she's ill or teething very much likes to be spoon or hand fed. :cloud9: Like today.

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?
Nope. Got some of those leathery ones but will wait till maybe next winter to get some more structured outside shoes as she's still not walking indoors even yet.

Now my Q's

1. Has your near 1 year old started trying to declothe you? LO has just decided she wants to investigate under mine and OH's clothes. She hasn't done it in public but she gets redy to throw a tantrum if you don't let her. Imagining some embarrassing wrestling will be happening in public places soon followed by a tantruming 1 year old. :dohh:

2. What can I do about her not drinking enough milk in the day? She takes a huge feed in the morning and then she's just not that interested and may have 2, 3 or maybe 4 oz rest of the day if she can be bothered. Should I cut down he food to allow more milk or does it not work like that?:blush:

3. Any and all advice or you own techniques of dealing with tantrums appreciated. I try and make everything as non-oppositional as possible but sometimes things NEED to get done (clothes/nappy changes, car seat, amongst others) and this results in a very unhappy and grumpy baby sometimes.

1. I laughed so much at this :haha: Madi tends to lift my top and try to kiss your tummy. Its so strange. She'll prob grow out of it i would think. Can't wait til she tries to take her own clothes off in public

2. I wouldn't worry about drinking lots of milk, she will soon be moving away from milk anyway i would think. Madi has a bottle when she goes to bed and has stopped having her morning bottle. Your LO will be gettting all of extra calcium she needs from other things like cheese, butter etc. As long as she is having her food and having some juice/water with her meals, it should be fine.

3. Tantrums are a really hard one, Madi has these all the time if she doesn't get what she wants or I take something off her that she wants. She tends to cry and if she still doesn't get what she wants, she will lie on the floor, scream and kick her arms and legs. When we are in the house I tend to let her get on with it. I bet that sounds harsh but after she cries for a couple of minutes on her own she realises that I wont give in and she comes over to me and laughs and starts to play again as if nothing happened. If it is something I need to get done like changing, car seat etc, I try some distraction and if that doesn't work I try to get what i need to get done as quickly as possible with her crying. If her tantrum is in public, its a different story I get so embarrassed and tend to give into her. Not good I know

Hi guys :). I'm glad you made this thread Bluebaby!

I've been super busy getting ready for Daisy's birthday tomorrow! Her cake has been delivered, presents wrapped, I went to town to get helium balloons earlier, I've been baking all afternoon, we're going to put all her banners up a bit later on and bring her pressies down ready for the morning. I'm so excited! This time last year I'd been in hospital for days after being induced early due to my cholestasis. At 6:30pm on 22nd December they could finally break my waters and proper labour started :). I got out the first ever sleepsuit she wore to look at earlier, sooo tiny. It was a newborn size and was way to big and we had to go and buy a whole load of tiny baby stuff. I felt all emotional!

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?
She never sleeps through. She is the world's worst sleeper and wakes numerous times a night and is up at 4am daily for the day. She has one nap from 8am til 9am then sometimes but not always has another nap around lunchtime then she is in bed for 6:30pm.

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?
I have no idea what to do about milk! She will continue to be breastfed but I am going to reduce her feeds and slowly phase in cows milk, mixed with the bottle of expressed milk she has every day. I'll continue to breastfeed her first thing in the morning and last thing at night but am going to try and have her on cows milk the rest of the time over the next few months. I want her to have her milk from a cup but she won't take one so I don't know what to do about that. She won't even drink water from a cup anymore. I have to give her water on a spoon now.

She is traditionally weaned and loves her food. She has a great appetite and has eaten everything she's ever been offered! I cook all her meals from scratch. I usually do a few batches at a time and freeze them. She is great at feeding herself finger foods but can't feed herself with a spoon yet.

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?
No. She cruises around the furniture very speedily but can't stand up or walk on her own yet.

4. Has your near 1 year old started trying to declothe you?
No but she will try and help herself to a breastfeed sometimes!

5.. What can I do about her not drinking enough milk in the day?
I'm not sure as we have the opposite problem as Daisy is having way too much milk.

3. Any and all advice or you own techniques of dealing with tantrums appreciated.
Daisy is having terrible tantrums too which are pretty hard to deal with. I guess we'll have to wait for them to just grow out of them!

Happy birthday Daisy's for tomorrow - you must be soo excited. Its such a happy day but I also got quite teary about it.

What are you plans for tomorrow and what pressies does lucky daisy have to open tomorrow?

I'll need to post some of Madi's birthday pictures

We have spent all evening putting banners and balloons up :). Her party is in the afternoon and her grandparents, some of her aunts and uncles and her godmother will be going. For her presents she has a rocking horse from mamas and papas, a fisher price musical activity table, gloworm seahorse, a few books and bath books, a precious planet hippo bath toy, a counting candle cake, some stacking cups, a toy phone, a wooden xylophone, a baby fred perry polo shirt (her daddy insisted on it ), a pretty party dress from monsoon, some leggings and top from gap and some pyjamas. That's what I can remember anyway!

I baked some baby friendly party food for her earlier and most turned out good but I made some orange muffins and they were disgusting and went straight in the bin !

I will post a couple of photos tomorrow. (I will be putting more on my FB so if anyone wants to add me to see them they can PM me. I will have to find you though as my privacy settings are really high so parents and ex-pupils from work don't find me !)

Hi guys :)

Hi birthday buddy!!! I'M SO EXCITED! I can't believe that Ethan (and Daisy) are 1 tomorrow. I've been quite teary today, thinking that this time last year (at 10pm as it is now) I was having contractions after induction, totally alone on the ward, no midwives, no other patients, thinking how I really wanted my planned home waterbirth and waiting for 'visiting hours' so that Dave could come in! I was still in disbelief that we were going to meet him a month early. Tomorrow will be emotional but so happy :) I wll take a photo tomorrow of Ethan's vests now compared to his Early Baby ones!!!
As for party planning, we've been doing the same! Banners and balloons up, huge '1' balloon inflated, pressies ready, food ready to go tomorrow. Our playdate is at 1. It's a shame as only 4 babies are coming now, the other 4 too ill or can't get here due to the snow. Friends at 1 and family 4 onwards - will still have a great time though!

You have so many pressies for Daisy. We've been quite sensible with Ethan. He has a sound and light drum, froggy stacking ball drop thing, ELC cars, a talking book from us. He's getting lots from family though! I think clothes from nanny and grandad 1, a garage from nanny and grandad 2, activity cube from great nanny, musical instruments and books from his 3 cousins, a vtech electronic tool kit thing from auntie and uncle 1, a surprise from auntie and uncle 2, and a surprise from auntie and uncle 3. I had to make a sudden decision which things to keep for Christmas, I just couldn't decide. In the end I've kept more pressies for Cmas.

Here are my answers to the Qs!!!

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?
Sleeping from 7:30 till 6 - 6:30 which suits us as I get up for 6 for work. Ethan naps about 9:30 - 11 and then 3:30 - 4:30/5:00

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?
I've decided to relax about milk and beakers! It seems from looking on these boards that by 18 months most toddlers have dropped bottles in the day naturally so I'm going to wait it out. Once he's just on a night and a morning bottle I'll give him his morning one in a beaker. He has his AM bottle at 6:46 ish then his museli straight after anyway so having the milk in a beaker shouldn't be too much of a stretch. By then he'll be holding his beaker himself when he drinks from it I HOPE!
With food, Ethan is a TW baby, but has lots of finger foods also. He will feed himself when he has bread shapes with jam/cheese spread/tuna etc and when he has a baby biscuit or piece of banana etc. I made all his food when he was little, and now I'm at work 3 days he has a Hipp Organic jar once a day for the 3 days I'm at work. More often now he's having the food we eat, like fish pie, waffles, lentil shepherds pie, chillia and rice and any meat and veg based dinner. Sometimes he has tinned spaghetti or ravioli now too which he loves!

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?
Not really. He has clarks cruisers. He was measured as a 3G and then I won some half price good as new from ebay! Won't get him proper ones until he's walking lots on his own.

4. Has your near 1 year old started trying to declothe you?
No lol I'll watch out for that one!

5. What can I do about her not drinking enough milk in the day?
Ethan is also still having a pint of milk a day and I'm eager for hm to drop it. Have tried giving water instead but he want's the milk so I've decided to chill about it until he's at least 16 months old.

3. Any and all advice or you own techniques of dealing with tantrums appreciated.
Ethan isn't having any yet. As he was a month early I think this may be one of those things that comes a month later! I'll let you know at the end of January x

Happy birthday to daisy and ethan. Hope u both have a great day

Hi everyone :hi:

Great thread! My little Rian turned 1 on Tue, Cant believe how quick the year has gone. I am broody to do it all again..:winkwink:

Rian sleeps from 7 till 7/8 every night and has done since he was about 3 months :happydance: He naps from 11 to 1 everyday also.

I have no idea how to reduce his milk feeds he LOVES his bottles. He has 9 oz in the morning another 9 at lunch time(half formula and half cows milk) and another 9oz going to bed. He also loves his solids aswell, he will eat just about anthing you offer him, he had chicken with onions and peppers last night and loved it, couldnt get it into him quick enough.

I have no walking shoes for Rian yet as he has only managed the art of crawling since the day of his birthday. He has no interest in walking, and doesnt attemp to pull himself up on furniture or anything but he will get there in his own time! He absolutely HATES having any kind of shoes on him, and even socks are a struggle to keep on..:dohh:

Happy first birthday to all our LO'S who have just turned 1 or their birthdays are coming up.. And here is to many happy healthy years to all of them :flower:

Ethan had an amazing birthday :) Very emotional of the night when we got to the time he was born. Hubby and I had a toast and went to see him sleeping :) Feels great having a 1 year old. Cmas doesn't seem half as important now somehow, but we're still excited :)

Aww gorgeous photos!! It looks like a fab day :). I'm glad the birthday buddies had such a perfect day. I totally know what you mean about christmas not seeming as important too! We had an amazing day too. I can't believe they are one!

Hi everybody and happy birthday to all your little one year olds :). What a hectic few days!! Can't believe my little baby is one year old *sob*. She was a poorly little princess on her birthday (typical she has had one cold and one sick virus throughout the whole year then was really off on her 1st birthday/christmas) she perked up a little yesterday and we had a party for her, I am so not the hostess with the mostest  I think it will be wacky warehouse next year, however she looked like a beautiful party princess in her frilly pink dress and her cakes were gorgeous (will post pics later). I'm a happy mummy today as she is nearly back to herself, just need to shift the horrible barking cough she's left with!

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?
Well those who have seen my posts will know the answer to this, nope to sleeping through! She has a nap in the morning ranging from 40 mins to 2 hours and another in the afternoon, however since she's had a pillow she seems to have been napping better but I don't know whether it's because she's been a bit off or just coincidence

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?
I would really like Evie to take milk in a bottle/cup but she isn't budging so we're still breastfeeding, it's really only when she's tired or at nap times so probably about 3 times a day and throughout the night. She is rubbish with solids and is't the least bit interested, the only success we have is scrambled egg and selected ellas kitchen stage 2 pouches, she likes cucumber, celery, breadsticks, quavers, garlic bread and chips!

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?No. She will not keep any kind of footwear on, it's much more fun to pull them off!

4. Has your near 1 year old started trying to declothe you?
No only when she's tired pulling at my top

5. What can I do about her not drinking enough milk in the day?
I read somewhere that mixing a little yoghurt with her milk is often a success

6. Any and all advice or you own techniques of dealing with tantrums appreciated.
I more often than not give in to prevent the tantrum, bad mummy!

:hi: So glad you came to join us. Poor Evie not feeling well on her birthday :hugs:

Hope everyone had a good christmas. I'm now trying to find places in my house to store all of these toys Madi was given for her birthday and christmas. Its a nightmare

Hey everyone, how lovely to see you all here! I have been off B&B forawhile - just so busy with other things and got out of the habit, but now I have started visiting again I realise how much I missed it! I am pg again now (23 weeks) but just not feeling 2nd tri, I don't know anyone there really so it is nice to see some old friends here! Congratulations on your LO's birthdays. Abigail was one on Dec 15th. Luckily it was a Wednesday which is my day off work. We had a lovely party which she shared with a friend's baby who has the same birthday. Even in the couple of weeks since her birthday she has already started doing lots of new things. I am so proud of her every day!

OK, now my answers to the questions:

1. Is your LO sleeping through and do they still have naps during the day?
She has been sleeping through since about 7 months when we did Sleepsense with her. I felt I needed to do some sort of training to help her drop the night feeds at that stage as she was wanting to feed three or four times a night and I was back at work. The only time she doesn't sleep through now is if she is not well.

2. What are you doing about milk? How has your LO taken to food? What are their likes and dislikes?
I stopped BF at 9 and a half months, mainly becasue I was pg again and I was just sooooo tired I couldn't take it. She has happily moved onto formula since then and we are now on the Aptimil growing up milk. I think I am going to move over to cow's milk in the Spring - apparently it is better for their teeth but she has had so many colds etc that I want her to get the extra vitamins from the formula at the moment. She likes food a lot, especially finger food, unless she is teething or ill then she will refise to eat anything except fruit pot and yoghurt!

3. Has your LO got proper walking shoes yet?
No, she pulls to standing but is not walking or really cruising yet. She has fury boots for going out in the buggy but they are rubbish in the house as they just fall off!

4. Has your near 1 year old started trying to declothe you?
No, but she loves to take off glasses, that's her favourite thing.

5. What can I do about her not drinking enough milk in the day?
The HV told me that she should be on 21oz a day but she doesn't take anything like that. She takes about 6oz in the morning, about 4-5oz in the afternoon and about 5-6 oz at night. I do give her yoghurt during the day and sometimes add milk to other things, like cheese sauce for fish pie etc.

6. Any and all advice or you own techniques of dealing with tantrums appreciated.
Abigail has really strated to have these when we are getting her dressed now. I usually try to distract her but it is working less and less,so no advice really!
