Hi ladies,

I have never found it difficult to name a baby before but just lately we have found it so hard to name our little girl.

We have been looking for an unusual pretty name to make our little girl unique.

The two names we are going to choose between are dolly and pixie.

We are waiting until she is born until we decide on which one to see which suits her the most.

We did have poppy on our list to have a more "normal" name but we have met 100s of Poppy's over this last month we have decided that it isn't that unique!

I have a unique name myself and Iv always loved not been the same and we named our first daughter summer star which she loves being different from the ordinary names too.

Our families arnt impressed by the name choices!

What do you all think?

I like both names.
I know a Dolly and a Pixie and think they are super cute names. My last son has a unique name that no one likes, but now everyone loves it

I love Pixie, I thinks it's cute and cool at the same time. I wouldn't give any thought to what family think, it's your decision.

I voted pixie, I think it's quite cute. Dolly is... (for me) I tend to think about whether I'd like it as a name myself and dolly is one I'd deff change by deed poll the instant I could!
My opinion, it could well be that you have a little girl that loves it.

You asked what we think so I'll be honest - I must have similar taste to your family, because I'm not a fan of either of those names so I can't pick one. However, I think you should still pick one of them if they're your favourite.

I love the name Pixie I think it's gorgeous, I had it on a list for this baby along with Luna but my OH said no to both :( I love the name Dolly too my dog is named dolly it's such a cute name!! But Out of your choices Pixie is my fav!!

I probably wouldn't use the names myself but I am a big believer in picking names that YOU love, not being swayed by family and friends. Go for the name you love and everyone will come around when she's here.

I have a cat called Dolly, so I obviously can't name a child that, but think it's cute and is probably my favourite of the three. My grandma's name was Dorothy and went by Dottie, which I like too. Pixie is cute for a little girl, but not sure it would suit everyone once they were older, especially if they're not small and petite. Poppy is definitely getting big in the UK now- I'm not sure where you are.

I think Dolly is okay, not my style but still unique without being "out there".

I don't like Pixie at all, I can't see it on a grown woman and I have to be honest, as someone who used to sift through resumes to pass along serious candidates to our hiring manager (in the financial sector), I would choose a Dolly or a Poppy over a Pixie if they had similar qualifications and I had to only pass along one.

you asked so honestly... they're terrible names in that form

Pixie cant be saved but what about Dolora, Dolores or Dolina then use the nickname Dolly?

it still unique and cute but also gives her options as an adult :flower:

I know an adult called Dolly. She's very successful, popular and cool and has had no problem with her name holding her back in any way. I really like it - as does she. Her mum was a huge fan of Dolly Parton, and she was brought up listening to her and totally embraced it. She was so influenced by the music, she followed suit and called her baby girl Jolene (which I'm not a fan of, but each to their own!)

I'm not too keen on Pixie, but I've never met anyone with the name and I think knowing people with certain names can turn you on or off them. The only Pixie I know of is Bob Geldof's daughter.

I don't like Poppy, but probably because it is so popular where I am.

I like poppy but like you am put off by how popular it is.

Absolutely adore pixie but would never ever be allowed to use it. Dolly I am less keen on but don't think its a terrible name at all. Your little girl call her what you want!

I think Pixie is cute. Dolly was my great Grandma and my aunts name so that makes it seem less unique to me and neither of them were fans of their name.
I love Poppy but I have met quite a few. How about Pippi or Pippa, they're kind of in between Pixie and Poppy

I like Poppy, but not a fan of the others. I just can't picture anything but Dolly Parton. Pixie is just.... Let's just say I wouldn't :/

I like them all, but im a big believer in not sharing with family or taking their opinions into consideration when it comes to childrens names

Sorry, I don't like any of them. I only go for traditional tried and tested names though. I agree with pp she's your daughter and your family shouldn't be butting in. If her name is dolly or pixie she will work it as you love the name.

I think Dolly is lovely 💕. I also think poppy is pretty but it is quite popular. Not too keen on pixie.

There's that famous DR from embarassing bodies called Pixie (uk ladies).

Tbh I'm not keen on either of them, sorry!
But if you love them then screw what your family think. Easiest thing you can do is just not tell them, someone will always have an opinion!
