right my doctor thinks i may have them just wondered if any of you ladies have them and has it affected your fertility in anyway i mean i wont be trying till 2015 but still good to know, Thanks in advanced:thumbup:

I have them in one ovarie, but I still don't know if they will affect me at all! Sorry I wasn't much help, but didn't want to r&r. I do know however that it can go either way, they can lead to PCOS but they can just sit there and be quiet. Try and have a look at the PCOS thread, there are a lot of women there with PCOS and babies!

I had 1 large ovarian cyst that had to be removed by laproscopic surgery. It was seriously painful and messed with my hormones. We are WTT, but my surgeon deals with a lot of ovarian cysts and said the women under his care usually do not have issues TTC because of previous cysts (unless they have PCOS).

I've had them in one of my ovaries - but it was just small and ended up going away on its own. My sister actually had them at the same time as me and hers was more painful, but still went away on its own - she has had a baby since then! I wasn't told one way or another by my doctor that I had anything to worry about - but again, mine were small.

My best friend was diagnosed with PCOS and one of her ovarian cysts actually ruptured (is that the right word?) while she was pregnant in 2009. That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage but was unrelated to the ruptured cyst. She got pregnant again the next month after her miscarriage and gave birth successfully last August, and got pregnant again a few months later and is giving birth again this week to a baby girl. I'm pretty sure it won't affect your fertility but I suppose it does different from patient to patient!

Best of luck, though, love!!

thanks ladies makes me feel abit more better i mean i know im not trying anytime soon but scares me to think i may be infertile u kno? hope this scan shows nothing wrong

I had them had on my left ovary I was soo worried because the doctor was like if they grow any bigger we can remove the ovary and didn't understand why I was upset.

I went and brought a book called The Fertility Diet and when I went back to the doctors the cyst had gone. A years later I met my OH two years later we decided to TTC and we got pregnant on cycle 1 so don't worry too much. I thought it would take forever because I had abnormal cells in that area then the cyst but it worked 1st time

it depends on how many of cysts you have, also, on your doctor. i have found that different people are told different things. for instance, i found out that i have pcos with about 25 cysts on each ovary, and my doctor told me that it would make it difficult to conceive, but i would have the greatest chance the younger i was (possibly due to only having to contend with pcos rather than other issues which may arise with age?).

whatever happens with your scan, make sure that you make your plans clear to them, because then they can talk to you specifically about what options are available to you. me and OH have decided to bring forward ttc, because i have to try independently before i am offered medical help such as clomid etc. as Lollyz said, if you go on the PCOS club thread, there are loads of success stories, and everyone has a different view of everything. its definintely helped me feel a bit more positive :)

let us know how everything goes! xx

I had a cyst in my early 20's that resulted in an ovary being removed. I was really worried about how it would affect my fertility, i was convinced i would find it near impossible to conceive without medical help. However i got pregnant the 3rd month of trying at 31yrs. I am now 40w+3d and my waters broke a few hours ago. So in my experience it had no adverse affect whatsoever on fertility. I did quit smoking a year before trying and was very sporty (running/cycling) and not overweight, also i have never really drank alcohol very much so I'm sure those 3 things helped.

i have pcos.

i was diagnosed with it when i made frequent trips to the doctors with hormonal issues, after a couple of blood tests and a scan they confirmed PCOS (polycycstic ovary syndrome)

the only symptoms of this i have are hormonal, anyway, after i got married i started to try for a baby and was told by my doctor that without help i wouldnt be able to conceive....only to fall pregnant with my little girl 6 months later and had a very successful pregnancy and birth :) with no help from the doctors at all!

and now im WTT for my second in around another years time :)
