does anyone else find themselves overcompensating at Christmas, spoiling nieces/nephews?

There's one in particular that I spoil, she was born on my EDD from 1st pregnancy.

I just can't help it

Definitely. My nephew has no idea of the amount of stuff he is getting for Christmas from Aunt Amy. He is only 8 months old, and lives in North Carolina, so I have to spoil him. It may even be a touch of guilt, b/c of the jealousy I felt when my sis-in-law was pregnant, but now I love that little boy so much............

Yep me to - i spend a stupid amount of money on my friend's kids for Christmas and Birthday - not to mention when i see something cute in a shop and i buy it for them! My other friend lives up North and whenever i see her and her 2 kids i always take them shopping for an outfit and toys!!

Here's hoping they return the favour

I probably would if I had someone to buy for!!! There's only me and my brother in my family and I'm the oldest so I don't have any nieces and nephews yet but I reckon if I did I would spoil them rotten!!!

My Bro has a baby and another younish Daughter, but i wouldn't say i over compensate, i just got the baby some really cute baby shoes, baby socks and a couple of toys........then again,.....now that i have just read that back to myself, sounds like i may have gone a little ott!-how strange is that!

I spoil my nephews rotten but I don't feel like I "overcompensate" because I have none of my own. I'm sure my brother (who I'm very close to) will do the same with mine when the time comes :)

Totally!! And not only at Christmas or birthdays either. We often have nieces and nephews to stay the night at our house and they have Aunty and Uncle doing whatever they are told by said niece or nephew. It is quite nice that even though we are part of a big family we are everyones favourite Aunt and Uncle!!!! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

I am an aunty for the first time now, my little nephew is 7 weeks old and i would love the oppertunity to spoil him, i really want to give him a cubble but BIL is completly over protective and you have to wressle him off him !!! mind you if i am ever lucky enough to have a baby, i am sure i will be the same !!!

I have a 5 year old brother whom I spoil terribly. I sent over about $300 worth of toys and clothes, I always do it. But then my mum's on her own now and doesn't have any money so she said she was grateful that he was atleast getting those big presents that she can't afford to get him and all the other kids are getting.
Then one of my best friends is 7 months pregnant with her first baby, a girl, and I've bought her loads of cute outfits. It's quite sad I suppose but it's the only chance I get to wander round the baby section and not feel like an intruder.
