so... I have a baby that fights sleep like I have never experienced before. She has been like this since day 1. I'm sure now that it's not wind, she is just overtired but can't seem to switch herself off.

My other two would just conk out when they were tired, but this baby turns hyper and takes hours to fall asleep!

Last night I tried getting her settled for bed at 6:30pm. She was up at 8am and had 3 naps, 9-10am, 11:30 - 2:30, and 4:15-4:45. So she should be tired but not too tired for bed, right?

I gave her a bath, took her upstairs in the peace and quiet and read her a story and gave her a feed, all before 6:30. But she did not fall asleep until 11pm!!!!

I stayed next to her pretty much the whole time, and whilst she wasn't crying she was whinging a lot.

I feel like I've tried everything. Swaddling, a sling, white noise, rocking her to sleep...when she's overtired picking her up actually makes her cry.

What am I doing wrong??? I feel like such a bad mum, I should know how to fix this. I'm at my wits end with it! The only thing I can think is to just keep persevering with it, eventually she'll learn, right? It's just so hard when I have two other kids and I have to basically ignore them when I'm playing this game every night.

She fights her naps too. The first nap I can get her to take in her cot or Moses basket but other naps are impossible. We end up taking her out in the pram (I do 3 school runs a day so pram is unavoidable in any case).

She defo sounds over tired sleep breeds sleep her wake time at that age isn't very long and shouldn't be so far apart you she should be having more than three naps imo ino it's hard wen they fight them tho no advice creaky but defo work on day naps X

Thanks, yes I agree sleep breeds sleep.

I will try to work on her naps, I usually wake her up for the day at 7, because we have to be out of the house for school at 8:30. She could quite happily sleep longer but it's just not possible. I also think it's good for her to get into the habit of getting up for the day at a sensible time.

I will try to get her to nap longer, I think she is just perpetually overtired now from doing this everyday.

Persist. Both my kids 8 weeks was the magic mark. I started them into a bed time routine from the day they came home. Bath and fed in bed at 7pm. They never went to sleep straight away and if they did they woke after 45 minutes. I just kept persisting and at around 8 weeks they both went to bed at 7pm and slept for hours...

Hmm, well she has been asleep all day except about 2-3 hours awake time, so we'll see how she settles after her bath!!
