Hi everyone, I'm new to the finer details and facts of pregnancy and need some help understanding!

I need to know when ovulation, fertilization and implantation take place during your cycle.

I have a 28 day cycle am I correct in understanding that day 1 is your period and day 14 is your ovulation (most fertile) day?

Also when does implantation occur because im 3 days late for my period!

Thanks

:hi: and welcome

If you do have a regular 28d cycle then yes, you would probably ovulate on day 14 - However some women with a regular 28d cycle may ovulate later making their luteal phase (lp) shorter (eg ovulate on cycle day 16).

The luteal phase is from 1 day post ovulation, so if you do ovulate on cycle day 14 (cd14) then your day post ovulation (dpo) starts on cd15 making you 1dpo).

Hope that makes sense?

If that is the case you can test with FRER's (first response early response) from 6 days before your period, but not all women will test positive. Best advice is test the day af is due, or the day after if she hasn't shown.

Implantation can be anyting from 5dpo - 10dpo.

If you are late for your af, I would go test!

Look at www.fertilityfriend.com - lots of women use it for charting/temping their cycles, I do (see below in my signature, you can look at my chart if you click on the link). There is a wealth of information on this site about cycles etc.

Good luck!

oh, yeah...

You are normally at your most fertile 2 days or so before ovulation. I use ovulation prediction kits (opk) to predict when I will ovulate. They deceted your LH surge and when you get a positive test, ovuation can take place anytime from 12-36hrs after getting your positive test. I am on cd21 today and still waiting :( last month I got my +ve opk on cd15 and ovuated on cd17. This month is obviously completely different for me! Having a much longer cycle than 30d. My LP is 13d.

Ovulation timing can vary from woman to woman, and the same woman can ovulate at different times during different months. GENERALLY, a woman ovulates about mid-way through her cycle (although there are all kinds of exceptions, and monitoring ovulation via ovulation predictor kits/cervical mucus checks/bbt charts can help pinpoint ovulation).

Fertilization (sperm + egg ) usually occurs within 24 hours of ovulation, since the egg doesn't last too long once it is released (sperm, by contrast, can live in a woman for about three days, and by some reports, longer).

Implantation (fertilized egg attaches to uterine wall) usually occurs 7 to 10 days after fertilization.

As far as tracking your cycle goes, the first day of your period = cycle day 1. If you have a 28 day cycle, it is possible that you will ovulate and be most fertile on day 14. However, it is possible that you ovulate earlier or later so you may want to determine your ovulation via ovulation kits, etc.

Hope this helps. xxx

Thanks everyone I understand a lot better now. Tested today ansd got a BFN so a little confused? Anyone else heard of this? Xx

You may have ovulated a bit later than you thought. If you end up not being PG, start charting and getting ready to temp, using opks etc as soon as AF starts. It may take a couple of months to get charting on track but it will help!

Good luck to you hun and welcome to BnB! :)
