Hi!

I hope some one can shed some light on this one because its driving me crazy. On the day of my EC i had pain and then nothing much on the next day. But two days after EC I had what felt like period pains for a short duration. Also had the general feelings like I do sometimes 2 weeks before a period sometimes a few days before a period. I started to panic that my lining had already started to shed. In the excitement of ET the next day I forgot about the pain and did not have any at all. ET was yesterday and today as soon as I woke up I am again having period like feelings. There is no actual cramping but just some general feelings mixed with very very slight discomfort in lower abdomen. I am scared that my IVF has already failed.

Please help!

I could barely stand up the day after egg collection. You have to think of what it actually entails, i.e. shoving a giant needle up your cervix and repeatedly stabbing your ovaries with the very same needle. It makes total sense for there to be discomfort. Mine lasted about five days even after ET.

You have answered a question of mine. Due to have ivf Oct. How painful is it? and How often do you have to go into hospital? Will need to talk to my boss about it as will obviously need some time off but not too sure what to say as dont really know myself. Any help/advice would be great! Good luck and baby dust to you all :)

Thanks CS. I guess I should just forget about everything and wait till I can test.

I think its not too painful. The painful part is the egg collection and they sedate you for that. I don't remember anything about my egg collection and slept through everything. Afterwards I was in pain but it was not too bad at all. I was expecting much worse. However like CurlySue some people may experience pain for a few days. The Embryo transfer is very quick and for me it was uncomfortable but not painful. You do have to do the injections which weren't too bad initially but later got more painful probably because I was trying to inject in the same area twice.

The number of visits...lets see there might be 3-4 scans. Initially to just check how everything looks. Then one after you have been given the injection to put you in temporary menopause to see if it works and then 2 during stimms to check your progress. Then two appointments for Egg collection and ET and last one for a pregnancy test.

Don't know about the time off work part, most of my appointments were early morning around 8. You will need time off for your Egg collection and Embryo transfer.
I hope this helps and Good luck hun!
